Neve Campbell, star of five Scream films, reveals if she would ever consider returning to the franchise as Sidney following her departure from Scream 6. Developed by Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven, the original film premiered in 1996 and went on to become one of the most iconic slasher films within pop culture and horror history. With the constantly rotating cast spanning almost three decades, Campbell has been joined by Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Rose McGowan, Matthew Lillard, Skeet Ulrich, Laurie Metcalf, and Emma Roberts, amongst many others.

Scream initially followed Sidney Prescott as she and her friends are stalked and killed by a mysterious masked killer, paying homage, and poking fun, at the various tropes seen in infamous slasher films. Having starred in the first five films, it came as a shock to audiences when Campbell confirmed she wouldn't return for Scream 6. Furthermore, with the reasoning mainly being financial, many were left heartbroken that their favorite final girl would not be back for another round with Ghostface. But Campbell could be up for a return at some point in the future.

In the interview with ET promoting her new American Red Cross campaign, inspired by Scream itself, Campbell spoke all about her controversial departure and her thoughts on the upcoming film. Specifically, the actress explained that if the directors were able to come to her in the future with a much more logical deal, she would definitely consider stepping into the shoes of Sidney Prescott once again. Furthermore, the actress also reiterated that she has so much respect for these new directors and that she wishes them the best. Read Campbell's words below:

I’m not just done with the chapter, I care about these movies. If they were to come to me with an amount that felt in keeping with... the value that I bring them, I would certainly consider it. I care about these new directors [Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett]. They did such a great job on the last one, and I wish them luck.

As previously mentioned, Campbell was vocal that her Scream 6 salary offer was not equal to the amount she brought to the franchise, having to fight in the past to receive an equal amount as her male counterparts. Sidney Prescott has become known as one of the most iconic final girls of all time and is well-respected both within the Scream universe and amongst moviegoers. With her decision, despite their heartbreak, many fans of the franchise were quick to showcase their support for Campbell, agreeing that she should be worth a lot more to these films.

With confirmation from Campbell herself, it seems that, if production really wants her to return in the future, Sidney Prescott may not have had her final confrontation with Ghostface just yet. Furthermore, the actress' vocal attitude towards the issue will be sure to help others in the industry who may wish to step up and get the pay check they so rightly deserve. With or without Sidney, Scream 6 hits theaters on March 31, 2023.
