Actor Jasmin Savoy Brown discusses the possibility of a Scream 7 Ghostface twist involving her character Mindy Meeks-Martin. Depicted as the niece of original Scream character and horror film connoisseur Randy Meeks, Brown’s character survived the events of 2022’s Scream and later moved to New York City alongside her twin brother Chad (Mason Gooding) and fellow survivors Sam (Melissa Barrera) and Tara (Jenna Ortega). Forming a new “Core Four,” Scream 6 saw the franchise’s newest leads face another spate of Ghostface killings and live to tell the tale.

In a recent interview with RadioTimes.com, Brown was asked about her character’s future and whether it was likely Mindy could don the Ghostface mask in an upcoming sequel. While the actor revealed that such a twist was unlikely, she admitted the only way she could see it happening was if her twin was also involved. However, Brown also suggested that a plot that involved Mindy killing her brother would be a shocking route for a sequel to take, though it is a theory that she hopes does not eventuate. Check out her comments below:

"I think, in the fifth entry [from 2022], I would have said yes. But after the sixth film, I'm getting to know her a little better [and] I don't think so. She's too much of a stoner and she just loves her brother too much. Unless he was in on it – if the twins did it together, perhaps. But if it was just her… you know they would have a scene where she was killing him and it would destroy me. So I hope not."

While Paramount has yet to announce and greenlight Scream 7, most film pundits seem to agree that another sequel is likely to happen. Given that Scream 6 generated rave reviews and ended its box-office run as the franchise’s highest-grossing film, the studio would be wise to continue its success with another follow-up. Moreover, Scream 6 directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett have already expressed their desire to return for another outing and have even teased the potential return of various legacy characters.

Inevitably, one legacy character whose franchise future is unclear is none other than the series’ original final girl, Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott. Despite initial plans to include Sidney in the franchise’s latest entry, Campbell famously stepped away from Scream 6 over a highly publicized pay dispute. While the most recent film still succeeded without her, both the directors and producer William Sherak suggested they would keep the door wide open for Sidney's potential Scream 7 return.

Between 2022’s Scream and Scream 6, the franchise's latest phase should focus on the newly established “Core Four.” While bringing back legacy characters, such as Sidney, is rightful fan service, the current generation of characters has now proven capable of leading the series alone. Whether or not Brown’s Mindy will end up as the next Ghostface remains to be seen, but Scream 7 would not be the same without her or her friends involved.
