The Scream 6 cast continues to grow as Dermot Mulroney becomes the first franchise newcomer. The most recent installment in the beloved slasher series picked up a decade after the events of Scream 4 as a new group of teens in Woodsboro are targeted by a new Ghostface killer, with all the potential victims holding links to the town's bloody past. Scream's cast included a list of fresh and familiar faces including series vets Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Marley Shelton as well as Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Mikey Madison, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Jack Quaid.

Helmed by Ready or Not duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, professionally known as Radio Silence, Scream received largely positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, with praise directed towards its continued meta commentary, performances from its cast and brutal kills. With the film scoring up over $140 million against its $24 million budget in the midst of the pandemic, Paramount quickly got to work on greenlighting Scream 6 with Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett back at the helm. As production is nearing its start on Scream 6, the roster of potential killers and suspects is growing once again.

The Hollywood Reporter has brought word that Hanna star Dermot Mulroney has joined the cast of Scream 6. The 58-year-old star becomes the first new character for the upcoming horror sequel, reportedly playing a cop in the film. Production on Scream 6 is expected to begin this summer.

As previously mentioned, Mulroney becomes the first franchise newcomer to join the already star-studded Scream 6 cast. Recent newcomers Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding and Jenna Ortega are all confirmed to be reprising their roles in the film while Courteney Cox has confirmed she will be back again as cutthroat reporter Gale Weathers and Hayden Panettiere more recently being announced to reprise her role of Kirby from Scream 4. At the time of writing, no word has been given as to whether Neve Campbell will be back as franchise heroine Sidney Prescott for Scream 6, aside from the star confirming she has been approached by the producers to return.

In addition to becoming the first new character in the series, it's interesting to note that Dermot Mulroney also looks to be filling a now-vacant role in Scream 6 as a cop character. The most recent Scream film memorably killed off both David Arquette's Dewey Riley and Marley Shelton's Judy Hicks, leaving the franchise without a main law enforcement to character to serve as both a potential victim or killer, as Scream 3 infamously teased Patrick Dempsey's Mark Kincaid as a suspect until the final act reveal. While audiences await further details on Scream 6 leading up to its March 2023 release, they can revisit the most recent installment now streaming on Paramount+.
