Neve Campbell's review of Scream 6 has been revealed following the actor's decision not to return as Sidney Prescott. After the success of last year's installment, directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett return to helm Scream 6. The upcoming sequel sees Sam (Melissa Barrera), Tara (Jenna Ortega), Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown), and Chad (Mason Gooding) head to New York City where they are then hunted by a new, more relentless Ghostface. Sidney was originally supposed to appear in the film, but Campbell ultimately declined after a salary dispute.

At the New York City premiere for Scream 6, Skeet Ulrich, who starred as Billy Loomis in Wes Craven's original movie, shares Campbell's thoughts regarding the latest sequel. Speaking to People, Ulrich reveals that Campbell thinks highly of Scream 6 before going on to express that he and the other franchise stars all support her decision not to return. Check out Ulrich's full comment below:

"We were together over the weekend at a convention. She loves it; she loves what we've done. There were just business things as a businesswoman that are important to her, and we all stand behind her.

"She's the final girl, no doubt, but yeah, I think she misses it, all of it and everything. This is new to me — I did [the original Scream] and then a big jump, we didn't have this kind of thing obviously because of the pandemic for [last year's fifth Scream], so this is like years and years' of growth. So I think she has more to miss. To me, it's new and exciting."

Will Sidney Prescott Ever Return To The Scream Franchise?

After being introduced in Wes Craven's original movie, Sidney played an integral role in every subsequent sequel, until Scream 6. Unlike last year's entry, which featured a balance between the new characters and the franchise veterans, this new film seems to be putting the focus much more heavily on newcomers like Sam, Tara, Mindy, and Chad. Although Gale is returning Scream 6, trailers have suggested that she will be a prime target for the new Ghostface, potentially meaning another original character will be biting the dust.

Scream 6 is already projected to have a franchise-best opening weekend at the box office, meaning a seventh movie could very well get the green light in the weeks or months ahead. A strong box office performance combined with the positive reviews that have already been released may signal to Paramount that the franchise can indeed push forward without Campbell and the heftier salary that she commands. Considering the role she has played in the franchise thus far, however, it's hard to imagine that audiences won't ever see Sidney in another Scream movie.

Sidney presumably remains alive in the world of the films, meaning it's certainly possible that she will return again down the line, even if it's in more of a supporting capacity or even just a cameo. Campbell herself has expressed interest in returning beyond Scream 6, citing her decision not to appear in the latest sequel as one made purely for business reasons. Although it may feel odd to watch a Scream movie without Sidney in it, Campbell evidently still has a lot of love for the franchise that she helped to make so popular.
