The Scream franchise is known for having killers with some connection to the main characters. Mindy has a motive, as Sam was revealed to be the daughter of Billy Loomis. Billy's mom, Nancy, killed Mindy's uncle in Scream 2.
To fully swerve the audience, Scream 6 could pivot Mindy as one of the killers to separate her fate from her uncle. She could get revenge by trying to kill Sam in Randy's honor. Jasmin Savoy Brown has already hinted on social media that either she or her brother Chad may not survive the next film. However, her death might not be the scene depicted in the trailer, but later in the film, once the killer(s) are revealed.
