Scream 6 images have revealed a first look at the triumphant return of fan-favorite character Kirby Reed. Kirby, played by Hayden Panettiere, was one of the new crop of teen victims of Ghostface in 2011's Scream 4, which followed consummate survivor Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) back to her hometown of Woodsboro. Kirby endeared herself to audiences thanks to her effortlessly cool persona and deep horror knowledge. Though she was seemingly murdered by Ghostface after rattling off an impressive list of horror remakes in response to one of the killer's trivia questions, an Easter egg in Scream 2022 revealed that she survived her wound.

Today, EW shared a huge crop of new first-look images from Scream 6, including a first glimpse at the return of Kirby Reed, ditching her trademark slicked-back look for a slightly longer haircut.

Other returning characters are also highlighted, including Courteney Cox's sixth time in the role of hardnosed reporter Gale Weathers as well as the core group of survivors from Scream 2022: Melissa Barrera as Sam Carpenter, Jenna Ortega as Tara Carpenter, Jasmine Savoy Brown as Mindy Meeks-Martin, and Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin. Also on hand is Dermot Mulroney as a new policeman character as well as a glimpse of the new Ghostface swinging a knife.

Everything These Images Reveal About Scream 6

Ghostface in New York City in Scream 6

In addition to showing the return of some beloved characters, these images are littered with Easter eggs for Scream 6. Previously, advertising for the film has hinted that at least one of the returning characters is attending the fictional Blackmore University in New York City, as the name was featured on a billboard snuck into the background of a poster as well as used as a clue in a Scream-themed crossword puzzle. The photo of the core group reveals that Chad is wearing a Blackmore University sweater, which confirms the setting and implies that he is a student there, though it is still unknown how many of his friends also attend.

Other images, including Sam and Tara looking like they've just survived a narrow escape, reveal the locations of further scenes from Scream 6. It seems that the film will take full advantage of its urban setting, putting its characters out on the streets as much as possible. The image of Gale Weathers also reveals the intrepid survivor investigating a cobwebby elevator in what looks to be an abandoned building, a place that may potentially provide a clue as to the identity of the new Ghostface.

The image of Ghostface here is also particularly intriguing. The mask the killer is wearing is a cracked, aged mask that looks quite dissimilar to the traditional sleek white design that is typically used by the killer and was shown in the Scream 6 teaser. That aged mask has been shown in other marketing material for the film, which may imply that two Ghostface killers are on hand here, with one who has a particular connection to a killer from a previous film and is using their mask.
