A fan artist has designed three potential Scream 6 posters that evoke its New York City setting. The upcoming sixth entry in the meta slasher franchise (which has not received an official title as of yet) will reteam the folks behind the reboot sequel Scream 2022, with directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick all returning. Many members of the surviving cast of previous films will also be returning, including Courteney Cox, Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Mason Gooding, and Jasmine Savoy Brown, joined by newcomers like Dermot Mulroney, Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, and Josh Segarra, as well as the newly returning legacy performer Hayden Panettiere as Kirby Reed, the fan-favorite character from Scream 4.

So far, not many details are known about the plot of Scream 6, though the first scrap of information that has been released is intriguing. It will leave the setting of Woodsboro behind completely, with the survivors of the original film being transplanted to New York City in a move that will surely cause resident horror fan Mindy Meeks-Martin to reference various urban-set horror films like Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes ManhattanCandyman, and Poltergeist III. This wouldn't be the first time that Scream has taken place outside of its town of origin, as Scream 2 took place on a college campus in Ohio and Scream 3 was centered around the making of a Stab movie in Hollywood.

On Twitter, fan artist Creepy Duck Design shared several concepts for Scream 6 posters combining Ghostface imagery with iconic New York City landmarks. The first imagines Ghostface as the Statue of Liberty, bearing a gleaming knife instead of a torch. That's followed up by a Ghostface mask made of clouds looming behind a knife skyscraper and traffic on a bridge driving into the mask's ghostly mouth. Check out the posters below.

The final design that Creepy Duck Design shared was inspired by a piece they created before the release of the fifth Scream movie, depicting a road winding into the mouth of the Ghostface mask. In an unprecedented move, that design eventually inspired the actual Dolby poster for Scream 2022. The publicity team behind the new Scream films clearly has this artist on their radar, so it wouldn't be surprising if something similar to one of these designs ended up on the official PR campaign for Scream 6.

Scream 6 is currently filming in Canada, so there is a chance that these designs may even work their way into subtle moments in the project itself. The Scream cast and crew are very aware of the online fanbase around their projects, often folding it into the overall meta-narrative of the entire thing. That all remains to be seen, but fans are certain to receive more updates soon.
