With the news that Scream 6 is already underway and filming (via fangoria), fans are trying their best to discover what writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick have up their sleeves, as well as who could be joining Courteney Cox. While it has been announced that Hayden Panettiere would be reprising her role as Kirby, the fandom was also pleasantly surprised to hear that Ready or Not star, Samara Weaving, was also joining the cast alongside her (via Digital Spy).

Weaving's casting had been long rumored so it's not surprising that many fans rejoiced when her confirmation was announced since she had already proven to be an icon in the horror genre. However, given that there are often several other rumored castings circulating on the internet, users on Reddit have begun debating about which of the other rumors are most plausible and which they hope are real.

Humberly González

Humberly González is one of the biggest names on Reddit that is heavily rumored to appear in the sixth installment, with many believing she would make a great addition to the franchise due to her experience on horror-like shows, such as In The Dark.

Fans also seem to think her casting is most plausible, given the number of connections she has with the rest of the cast, such as confirmed cast member Liana Liberato. Reddit user EasyAd7148 also adds to these rumors, stating, "Humberly is [...] most likely [to appear] because she [allegedly] arrived [in] Montreal at the same time as Liana and she was at the same hotel as the Scream 6 cast. She is also returning to Montreal this month. Too many Coincidences for sure."

Joshua Jackson

The Dawson's Creek star has been rumored to reprise his came from Scream 2 as one of Randy's classmates, and Reddit fans can't help but notice that Jackson slightly resembles Jack Quaid from Scream (2022).

As Reddit u/Chuckadrew speculates, "So clips essentially confirmed Joshua Jackson was in the casting but this hasn’t been confirmed. I’m gonna take a Stab In the dark and assume it’s Ritchie's dad and we’ll have a repeat of Mrs. Loomis? Just a guess." While it would be a little disappointing if the writers went down the "Mrs. Loomis" plotline again, Jackson's return would be huge for Scream 2 fans since it would allow them to see what he has gotten up to and how the events of that movie could have affected him.

Freddie Prinze Jr.

Freddie Prinze Jr. on a talk show.

The '90s teen idol hasn't starred in a horror movie since he was in the first two I Know What You Did Last Summer films. However, this all seems to be changing when he announced on social media that he'll be starring in a new horror flick this year, making Scream fans wonder if he might be playing Tara's Dad in this next installment.

As Reddit user Living-Tiger3448 says, "They need a Freddie Prinze Jr. announcement right now. That’d be the best cast announcement for Tara’s dad. Plus, his wife was in the sequel and that’d just give me goosebumps." It would be more than fitting since I Know What You Did Last Summer was also written by Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson. To make it even more perfect, Prinze was reportedly almost cast as Billy in the original Scream (via MIC) so it's a possibility that they could make him a potential copycat.

Ross Lynch

Jeffrey Dhamer turning back in My Friend Dahmer

After musician/actor Ross Lynch took a 2-month break in his tour between June and July (when production was beginning), with him also making a quick stop in Canada (as confirmed on Instagram), Reddit users to start eagerly discussing the possibility of the young star possibly having an unannounced role in the latest Scream, with u/livdidntlive writing, "I’m praying that this is real."

That's because Lynch would make for perfect casting, particularly for his background in horror. While he started out with the Disney channel, Lynch earned considerable notoriety for portraying a young Jeffrey Dahmer in My Friend Dahmer, and also co-starred in Netflix's Sabrina the Teenage Witch reboot. Even if he doesn't have a major role, fans would still love to see him make a cameo appearance.

Sadie Sink

Sadie Sink as Max

After her acclaimed performance in Season 4 of Stranger Things and the Fear Street franchise, fans suspect that Sadie Sink will be joining the cast. The Scream franchise is known for embracing newcomers or up-and-coming actors, especially if they're horror alum like Sink is. As Fragrant-Tough-9500 puts it, "I need Sadie in the movie! She will be the perfect chase&death opening scene!"

Since Season 4 was so heavily inspired by the same horror films that would inspire the first Scream, she would make a perfect addition. After playing Max Mayfield, it's all too easy to imagine Sadie Sink taking on Ghostface alongside Jenna Ortega.

Sydney Sweeney

Cassie crying, surrounded by flowers on Euphoria

Fuelled by an interview she gave where she did love branching out into that genre (via Dread Central), Sydney Sweeney is another name that the fandom has been talking about on Reddit, with one user believing she "would be a wonderful addition to the franchise."

Sweeney showed that she was an emotional powerhouse in Euphoria, and it's hard not to imagine her being a potential Scream Queen. Perhaps she could be the opening kill, in keeping with the franchise's tradition of killing the most popular star first.

Emma Roberts

Emma Roberts as Jill in Scream 4

Like Paniterre, Emma Roberts is a fan favorite after her performance as Jill from Scream 4 as one of the scariest killers in the franchise. Even though her character was killed off, it would be easy to imagine Roberts making an appearance in some creative fashion. As Reddit user Fout99 speculates by saying, "Emma Roberts was supposedly spotted in Montreal as well. Maybe dream sequence?"

After all, Kirby from Scream 4 was Roberts' best friend, and it would make sense to evoke Jill's character again. However the filmmakers would bring back her character, and her casting would be huge news for the fanbase.

Neve Campbell

Sydeny pointing a gun In Scream 5

Easily the most controversial announcement over Scream 6 is that Neve Campbell, who's played lead character Sidney Prescott in the previous five films, won't be returning to this sequel due to a salary dispute. While many fans are devastated to hear that Campbell is reportedly not coming back, some are hoping that the studio will eventually change their minds and bring her back into the fold.

Given that Campbell is considered to be one of the faces of the franchise, it's not really shocking that some fans, such as Redditor Reekshavok312, are hoping "she'll be in the movie as a surprise." It would certainly be an unexpected twist, and, if Campbell decides that she doesn't want to appear in the franchise any longer, at least it would give everyone a chance to say goodbye and give Sidney the sendoff she deserves.
