Melissa Barrera, star of the upcoming Screamhas teased that fans "ain't ready" for the 2022 film after seeing the final cut of the movie. The In The Heights star was the first of the new cast members to be announced for the upcoming relaunch of the classic 90s slasher, and will be joined by other Scream-newcomers, including Dylan Minnette (Thirteen Reasons Why), Jenna Ortega (You), and Jack Quaid (The Boys). Barrera was confirmed to have a key role within the film, but little more is known about what audiences can expect to see from the up-and-coming star.

Confirmed to be simply titled Scream (and not Scream 5), the upcoming horror flick will be the first time fans revisit the fictional town of Woodsboro, California since Scream 4 in 2011. The fate of the franchise following this installment became largely unclear after director Wes Craven's passing in 2015, and so official confirmation of its return back in 2020 was welcome news to many horror fans. Alongside the handful of newcomers, the movie will also see the return of original cast members Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Marley Shelton.

Now, Barrera has taken to Twitter to tease fans about the upcoming release. The star revealed that she had seen the final cut of Scream, and teased that fans "ain't ready" for what's to come. Included in the tweet was the fun new Ghostface emoji that Twitter launched to celebrate the film's release, followed by a knife emoji, Ghostface's signature weapon of choice. Barrera recently confirmed that the new Scream movie will honor Craven, and will make the original fans happy while also keeping the franchise fresh for new audiences. Details of what to expect from the film have been kept largely under wraps at this stage, so the star's tweet is likely to get eager viewers incredibly excited. Many are expecting the first trailer for Scream to drop any day now following a cryptic tweet from the official Scream Twitter account and the launch of this new Ghostface emoji, so the timing of Barrera's tweet is likely to be no coincidence.

Following the release of the first Scream back in 1996, the Craven classics have established themselves as firm fan-favorites within the horror genre. Barrera's confirmation that the final cut is something to behold is sure to be exciting news for many, as it will certainly be interesting to see what directing duo directing duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett have created, as the pair will have some big shoes to fill after taking over from a director as iconic as Craven. With Scream currently set for release in January, audiences haven't got long to wait now. And with Halloween just around the corner, now seems as good a time as any to officially kick the film's promotion into gear.
