Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game was recently released on the Nintendo Switch and it saw an impressive 25,000 copies sold within the first three hours of its release. The very popular 8-bit indie game has gathered a sizable cult following since its release in 2010 and fans have revisited the game through various bits of DLC released since then. A Complete Edition has also been released that combines all the content into one package. The game keeps in the spirit of both the 2010 film and the original graphic novel series.

The game has been remastered and repackaged since its release. It was received with generally popular reviews. The game, while not without its flaws, had a decent amount of challenge for players as well as expansive character progressions across its 7 playable heroes. Many fans praise the game for perfectly capturing the essence and style of the graphic novels and the beloved film through a fantastic soundtrack and retro 8-bit graphic style. The game has high replay value, too, due to its explorable levels full of secret areas to find.

In an article published by The Gamer, a statement made by the owner of Limited Run games shows that the game smashed sales expectations mere hours after hitting the Nintendo Switch online store. Douglas Bogart showed extreme excitement and gratitude towards everyone who purchased the game. Limited Run was not expecting this level of performance from the game's re-release and responded with a tweet thanking players, complete with a cheesy Scott Pilgrim gif.

The game's Complete Edition is available across multiple platforms for only $34.99 which is a solid price for the fully remastered game and it's DLC. The game's re-release in physical form was highly anticipated by many after the game left online stores in 2014 due to licensing issues. While there was no release date announced at the beginning of the year, Limited Run wasted no time getting the game back out to fans. Scott Pilgrim creator, Bryan Lee O'Malley, recently detailed that while the Complete Edition won't have any new content, there were plans for many pieces of DLC before those plans were left on the cutting room floor.

The Scott Pilgrim universe has a strong cult following that has seem to only strengthen over the years. Many were sad to see the game removed from online platforms. Between the re-release and its high sales numbers, Ubisoft resolving the game's licensing issues, and the fact that many unused plans for DLC were are still waiting to be expanded on, it might not be outside the realm of possibility that this won't be the last we see of Scott and friends beating thugs up in 8-bit throughout the the streets of Toronto, Canada.
