West Side Story’s Rachel Zegler has the perfect costume for Halloween - Envy Adams from Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. The rom-com action film was director Edgar Wright’s first film outside the U.K. and is based on Bryan Lee O’Malley’s graphic novel series. It was a box office flop when it was first released in 2010, but has gained a massive cult following since then and was recently remastered in 4K and re-released for its 10th anniversary. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World follows the titular Scott (Michael Cera) as his garage band try to secure a record deal and he tries to secure the heart of Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) by fighting her seven evil exes.

One of the things that Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World is often praised for is its impressive ensemble cast, which is comprised of many stars before they landed their break-out roles. This includes Anna Kendrick before Pitch Perfect, Aubrey Plaza before Parks and Recreation really got off the ground, and a pre-Avengers Chris Evans. However, it was also a key film in the early career of Brie Larson, who was just nineteen years old when she was cast as Envy Adams - the lead singer of rock band The Clash at Demonhead and Scott’s ex-girlfriend.

Now, Zegler has paid the perfect tribute to Larson’s effortlessly cool character by dressing up as her for Halloween. On Twitter, the young actress posted a video of her lip-syncing to the Metric song ‘Black Sheep’, which Envy performs in the film. She also posted herself lip-syncing to an iconic conversation between Scott and Envy, which Wright himself tweeted his approval of. See the posts below:

Zegler’s attention to detail is very impressive in the videos she posted, showing that she is clearly a fan of the movie. Her costume, make-up and wig exactly resemble Envy when she performs "Black Sheep" onstage at one of The Clash At Demonhead’s secret shows. Zegler even avoids blinking in the videos, a nod to Wright’s instance that the actors blink as little as possible during the film to maintain an anime style.

Like Larson when Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World first came out, Zegler is only just beginning what looks to be a very promising career. The 21-year-old actress will star in her feature-film debut as Maria in Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of West Side Story, which is set to be released in December this year. She will also appear in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, though her exact role remains a mystery. Her Envy Adams costume is a fitting tribute to Larson’s Scott Prilgrim character, and shows off her impressive cult classic know-how.
