If you're unable to attend the California-based festivities, you can still enjoy this new clip from the film, which features Scott (Michael Cera) showing off a bit of the good ol' Pilgrim charm in front of his new, potential beau Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead).
Proving that he's more than just a schlubby, 22-year old guitarist in a mediocre band turns out to be the least of Scott Pilgrim's concerns in the film - especially when he finds out that he has to battle Ramona's seven evil exes - before he can peacefully date the girl of his dreams.
This new clip, courtesy of MTV, titled "Hey" (which you can watch below) reminds us that director Edgar Wright can still provide both realistic as well as entertaining character dynamics and relationships - just as he did in Shaun of the Dead.
It would be appropriate to make a joke about how Scott Pilgrim showcases Michael Cera stepping out of his niche - by playing a socially awkward young man. Then again, he does play the part quite well. The same could also be said for Anna Kendrick (Scott's sister, Stacey) - who takes on the role of an uptight young woman.
Jokes aside, the clip does a great job of whetting our appetite for the film - which is now less than one month away.
One thing, Scott's ex (Ellen Wong) was actually named Knives? Did her parents never watch Trigun and realize that couldn't possibly lead to anything good?
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World arrives in theaters in the U.S. on August 13th, 2010.
