The intro to the classic animated kid's show Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! has been faithfully recreated in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The beloved island life simulation title has been a whirlwind success for Nintendo since it launched in March, and the very broad selection of customization items and set pieces has led to some truly creative projects being produced in-game. One player, for instance, turned their island into a recreation of the set from The Office.

Not many cartoons have had quite the same impact as Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! and its various sequels and spinoffs. The original 1969 show introduced millions to the eponymous talking dog and his band of buddies, roaming the country in an iconic blue and green van and unmasking terrible monsters wherever they go. Even fifty years after the initial series aired, the legacy of Scooby-Doo persists in the minds of fans who weren't even alive when it first appeared. The gang has been bumbling through countless mysteries through the ages, and fans love them for it.

This love has prompted YouTube channel Great-Bit Arcade to recreate the classic show's intro theme in Animal Crossing. This project casts canine villager Bea in the starring role, and uses villagers in surprisingly accurate costumes to fill the roles of the rest of the gang. The sound from the original intro is layered over the footage, including not only the classic theme song but Scooby's whimpers of fear and the ominous creaking of doors. While certain details from the original intro couldn't be replicated using Animal Crossing, the overall end result is remarkably accurate, and a strong testament to the original show. Check it out below.

Great-Bit Arcade has clearly done its research; few moments from the original intro are left out. A cursory glance at the rest of the YouTube channel explains this attention to detail; Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! is far from the only title sequence that Great-Bit Arcade has rendered in Animal Crossing. The channel has also given the same treatment to The SimpsonsPhineas & Ferb, and even Spongebob, joining a long tradition of internet fans making Spongebob references in Animal Crossing.

The list of things that can and have been created in Animal Crossing grows longer by the day. It's doubtful that Nintendo intended to make such a widely successful creation platform when it released the game, but that's exactly what happened. The game's appeal has already extended past the video game community; high culture fashion designers are even hosting runway shows using the game. Amidst all of these many projects, the recreation of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! in Animal Crossing: New Horizons stands out as a powerful testament to the influence of the video game and the enduring legacy of the beloved mystery show.
