The world of sci-fi is populated by a horde of rather variable characters — from mutants to space mutineers to mad scientists to post-apocalyptic warlords, this genre exhibits a vast landscape of diversity. Interestingly, the existence of sci-fi is crucial not because of the entertainment value offered, but because its stories often analyze the current world, albeit through a distant lens.
Character arcs in a setting far removed from the modern timeline are surprisingly akin to our own, explaining why these stories remain popular enough to spawn dozens of films and TV programs every year. All of them are fascinating, but would they likewise make the ideal partner?
Aries - Shotaro Kaneda
Kaneda from the dystopian cyberpunk masterwork, Akira (1988), is the stereotypical bad boy, with his blatant disregard for the government (whose draconian policies are directly responsible for the rise in criminal activity in New Tokyo.)
An Aries is one of the few signs capable of dealing with a powerful personality like his, especially considering the fact that Kaneda's true nature is not as violent and aggressive as he makes it out to be.
Taurus - Imperator Furiosa
Imperator Furiosa knows exactly what she wants and how to get it. The only problem is that she loses her focus when the destination of her dreams turns out to be a wasteland.
Like Max Rockatansky, it will take a Taurus-born person to become her rock, however temporary, and ensure that she doesn't float away in the flood of her own emotions. Furiosa is dominating and doesn't respond to overtures of friendship, but these traits can also be subverted by the patient Taurus.
Gemini - Trinity
The only problem that Trinity faces (the same as Neo) is the choice between love and humanity, and at the end, she makes the right one. Geminis are best suited to understand her perspective, as they are themselves blessed with the ability to manifest their decisions in a flexible manner.
Further, those born under this star sign are often incredible multi-taskers, something that is absolutely essential when trying to infiltrate the matrix.
Cancer - Leia Organa
Princess Leia Organa is an uncompromising loyalist, whether it's to her family or to the resistance, not to mention her tireless efforts to maintain peace by hampering the villains, whoever they are, as much as possible.
A Cancer, being rather inventive and emotionally available, may take some time to get Leia to warm up to them, but they are both far too sensitive people for such a thing to never happen.
Leo - Kaylee Frye
Firefly's Kaylee Frye is the jewel of the ship — she is bubbly, enthusiastic, intelligent, and always has a kind word to offer to everyone, which the gregarious and dramatic Leos are likely to appreciate, and greatly so.
In addition, she is an excellent mechanic (a male-dominated field), while still seeking comfort in feminine cliches, such as ball gowns and fancy parties. Kaylee would happily offer the limelight to her soulmate, as she finds happiness in supporting those she loves.
Virgo - R.J. MacReady
The borderline sarcastic R.J. MacReady, protagonist of The Thing (1982), is an excellent match for the smart, tolerant and organized Virgo. In fact, very few people would even be able to rein in his freewheeling attitude, and this star sign includes most of them.
This doesn't mean it's a one-sided relationship, though, as MacReady is a genuine person with a heart of gold, except coated with a thick layer of dust.
Libra - Ellen Ripley
Ellen Ripley doesn't have time for a relationship, given that most of her life is spent fighting off Xenomorph swarms. If she ever decides to settle down, however, the ideal choice would be a Libran — because these folk are sensible and logical, preferring to use their brains rather than depend on the randomness of the heart.
Both of them in this case are determined, while also having a nurturing side that they usually keep hidden, as seen when Ellen practically adopts an orphan girl and fights tooth and nail to keep her alive.
Scorpio - Marty McFly
Marty McFly has no clear idea of what his future is going to be like (the worst irony), but at least he'll have a Scorpio to guide him along the right path.
The journey they take together will certainly not be devoid of bumps, since this zodiac sign is known for its extreme levels of energy and absolute contempt for social convention. Marty would be the first to identify with these features, regardless of whether he has ambition or not.
Sagittarius - Han Solo
Han Solo is hot-tempered, regularly making rash decisions (or trying to, but is thankfully stopped by Chewbacca or Leia). The perfect balance in this scenario is to pair him with a Sagittarian, as they are on the opposite spectrum in terms of mentality.
As a consequence, they might be capable of showing him how to react to things in a composed manner. One more thing Han desperately needs is a reality check, and the Sagittarius is certainly going to provide it for him.
Capricorn - Katniss Everdeen
Capricorns are born to be the most loving people of the zodiac, a trait that Katniss, with her horrible experiences growing up, sorely needs.
Furthermore, both of them are heavily devoted to their families, placing them on a pedestal above everyone and everything else. Their lives are dedicated towards taking care of them, which is truly one of the most effective ways to develop a romantic bond with someone.
Aquarius - Motoko Kusanagi
Motoko Kusanagi has established her leadership qualities early on in the narrative, proving that she can be trusted in a pinch (and especially in a dire situation).
The issue that some might find with her, is that she's not quite human, but not really cybernetic, either. Nevertheless, an Aquarian's broad-minded perspectives will negate any discomfort arising from Motoko's anatomical discrepancies.
Pisces - Sarah Connor
The robustness of Sarah Connor is quite incredible to watch, but a potential soulmate is likely to assume her no-nonsense demeanor as a slight against them. Unless, of course, they are a Pisces.
This star sign is filled with an adoration for all living creatures, almost limitless in extent, and their generosity is outshone only by their altruism. They would certainly not be capable of handling a Terminator by themselves, but there is nothing that can stop the combination.
