Kerry Washington and Charlize Theron have joined the cast of Paul Feig's The School for Good and Evil. The upcoming Netflix film is an adaptation of Soman Chainani's best-selling young adult fantasy novel that is set in a magical school where children are trained to become fairytale heroes or villains. Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, Ghostbusters) was attached to direct in early 2020, and now some casting information has emerged.

Feig announced in a tweet Friday that Kerry Washington and Charlize Theron have joined the cast of The School for Good and Evil. Feig confirms that Theron is set to play Lady Lesso, the Dean of Evil, while Washington will play Professor Dovey, the Dean of Good, and Lady Lesso's best friend. "I know what school I'm applying to!" the tweet reads.

Washington and Theron join Sofia Wylie and Sophia Anne Caruso, who have been cast as best friends Agatha and Sophie, respectively. While Sophie believes she will be chosen for the School for Good and Agatha seems to be the perfect fit to train as a villain at the School for Evil, the two girls are surprised to find themselves at the opposite academies. Adapted by screenwriters David Magee and Laura Solon, the film is produced by Joe Roth, Jeffrey Kirschenbaum, Jane Startz, and Feigco's Feig and Laura Fischer. Author Soman Chainani will also executive produce, along with Zack Roth and Patricia Riggen.

Theron is not new to a villainous role, having previously played the evil queen in the Snow White and the Huntsman franchise. The School for Good and Evil is Washington's latest Netflix project, most recently starring in the streamer's film adaptation of the musical The Prom.
