On Canadian sitcom Schitt's Creek, David and Alexis have privileged upbringings but living in the lap of luxury comes at a cost: they're kind of jerks. The entire Rose clan shares a family dynamic that is equal parts dysfunctional, affectionate -- and since their move to Schitt's Creek -- evolving into something more cohesive if not traditional.

Once a vapid party girl, Alexis enjoyed popularity her brother didn't. Like most brothers and sisters, they are competitive, and Alexis can be an especially insensitive little sister. With the family fortune squandered, Alexis is learning to put family, including David, first. But every step forward often means several steps back with these siblings. Here are the five worst things Alexis did to David, and five times she was a great sister.

The Worst: Forgets David's Birthday

Alexis isn't the only member of the Rose family to forget David's birthday, but she shows the least amount of remorse about it. Between pining over veterinarian Ted and preparing to graduate high school on season 3's "Grad Night," there's no room for much else, including acknowledging the day of her brother's birth. Alexis does rally in the end, wishing David a "Happy Birthday" and handing him some hand-picked flowers. Better late than never, but still not great.

Good Sister: Teaches David To Ride A Bike

When Mutt buys Alexis a bike on season 2's "Estate Sale," Alexis admits she doesn't know how to ride. David was such a "drama queen" about learning, it drove their parents to throw all the bikes into a bonfire and never speak of it again. Minus the childhood trauma, Alexis is also an indoorsy, luxury car kind of gal.

But when in Rome, so Alexis quickly masters pedaling and decides to help David overcome his childhood trauma by passing on her knowledge. It's another example of how as children, Alexis and David didn't have many normal experiences. Even as adults, the brother and sister must rely on each other to do things Moira and John fail to do as parents. It appears to be a one-time accomplishment for both since neither Rose sibling climbs on a bike again.

The Worst: Ignores A Text From David When He Disappears

When David disappears on season 2's "Finding David," Moira fears for her treasured alligator bag, Johnny is concerned whether his wife can persevere without her beloved purse and Alexis relishes the extra space. David's disappearance provides Alexis with an excuse to string along Mutt and Ted while ironically declaring David's behavior "selfish." If it were up to Alexis, David would stay gone for good.

Alexis' ambivalence regarding her brother's whereabouts is overshadowed by the revelation that he attempts to contact her, revealing his location. She just couldn't be bothered to read or respond to his text. It's not that Alexis doesn't care at all, it's just her upbringing has been so pampered, it never occurs to her things won't work out somehow.

Good Sister: Secures David An Exclusive Supplier For His Store

During a buying trip for David's store, Alexis discovers her brother is hoping to secure a deal with a vendor who happens to be Ted's new girlfriend. All signs point to disaster on season 4's "RIP Moira Rose" since it seems obvious Alexis will fail to keep her cool. But Alexis doesn't let her drama get in the way of her brother's business. Not only does Alexis avoid a deal-breaking tantrum, but her increasingly responsible behavior also enables her to bargain on her brother's behalf despite it reinforcing her heartbreak. It's a bonding moment for the siblings when David simultaneously discovers newfound respect for his baby sister and that she's in love.

The Worst: Refuses To Move To NYC

Of all the Roses, David is the least excited at his prospects when the family finds a buyer and prepares to leave Schitt's Creek and go their separate ways on season 1's "Town for Sale." David won't come out and say that being in forced confinement with his family is preferable to his life in NYC, so he asks Alexis to move in with him.

She dismisses the offer, preferring to go back to her jet-set lifestyle. David doesn't feel he belongs in the small town, but David is always the outcast. His relationship with Alexis, while still not the tightest, is closer than ever before, and she doesn't stop to consider why David would ask, and how her thoughtless rejection might hurt her brother's feelings.

Good Sister: Poses As A Lawyer

After David singlehandedly drives the Blouse Barn into bankruptcy on season 2's "Lawn Signs," he sees an opportunity to save the store and his job. In an uncharacteristically selfless move, Alexis offers her help as well. She points out David has a tendency to crumble under pressure, and she loves the opportunity to put on a power suit and pretend to be an attorney.

Alexis doesn't bring much to the table when it comes to bargaining, but she does have her brother's back, and Alexis' ineptitude forces David to step it up to get the deal done. It's one of the few times, their over-the-top personalities balance each other out with a positive result.

The Worst: Does A Terrible Job Minding David's Store

When both Patrick and David are otherwise engaged, David, against his better judgment, enlists Alexis' help at the store on season 5's "Roadkill." All she has to do is sign for a package. A bored Alexis quickly abandons her responsibilities in favor of some sexy role-playing with Ted.

Not only does she leave the door unlocked, allowing anyone access to the unmanned store, but she and Ted also break the bathroom sink and miss the delivery which is her sole purpose for being there. This is a return to the old Alexis: someone who puts her wants and needs above everything else. The outcome is funny but proves David was right not to trust Alexis to complete a ridiculously simple task.

Good Sister: Catches Shoplifters

Alexis constantly alludes to her wild-child past which includes a variety of felonious activities. This is why she's able to give David and Patrick a heads up when some local teens begin stealing from Rose Apothecary on season 4's "Asbestos Fest." Patrick is too wholesome, and David is too flattered by their compliments to realize the kids are robbing them blind.

It's Alexis, a low-level criminal mastermind, who uses her singular talents to expose the shoplifters. Alexis loves to prove David wrong, but she doesn't have to help him, especially when he isn't welcoming when it comes to Alexis hanging around his shop.

The Worst: Lies About Reason For Attending David's Wedding

David and Patrick find the perfect venue for their wedding but there is a catch: they have to hold the wedding without Alexis on season 6's "Smoke Signals." David isn't willing to sacrifice his dream wedding to accommodate Alexis, and Alexis isn't willing to budge to placate her bridezilla of a brother.

Their fight turns out to be a way for them to cope with their impending separation. Alexis realizes she's mixed up her departure date on her nonrefundable plane ticket. This doesn't stop her from trying to pull the locally sourced wool over David's eyes, trying to guild him into believing (albeit briefly) that she's willing to be the bigger person to ensure his happiness.

Good Sister: Protects David From Embarrassing Social Media Posting

When Moira takes to social media to promote her film on season 6's "The Incident," she accidentally live streams a conversation about David's bedwetting. Alexis derives some enjoyment from her brother's secret shame being broadcast to the world. But in the interest of her brother's sanity (and mother's career), Alexis and Moira team up and work overtime to prevent David from finding out about the snafu. The old Alexis would never go to such great lengths to shield her brother from public embarrassment, but this mean girl is now a girl boss and good sister.
