Schitt's Creek has brightened up our screens and our hearts over six seasons with the Rose family, whose financial mishaps landed the former one-percenters in a rural Canadian town that was also their one remaining asset. The fish-out-of-water comedy stars Catherine O'Hara as the matriarch Moira Rose, whose modern wardrobe, fabulous wig collection, and unplaceable accent (bebe, anyone?) made her a fan favorite.

Moira's wigs run the gamut from sleek and sophisticated to absolutely absurd. Whether she wore them backward, sideways, or not at all, the wigs have become an essential part of her character and an iconic gag on an already memeable show. Below, we rank ten of Moira's best wigs on Schitt's Creek.

The Rounded Bob With Bangs

Moira went for an entirely monochromatic look in this rounded bob with blunt bangs. She paired the severe-looking wig with an equally severe black and white dress with a dramatic collar, daisy brooch, and red lips to brighten things up. According to O'Hara, this outfit and others like it were chosen in accordance with Moira's moods. "I would say Moira gives the wigs personality opposed to the other way around," she said.

Maureen

For a party at Roland and Jocelyn's house, Moira dons another cropped wig with blunt bangs. This wig has a layer of blonde over the darker undertones. She and Johnny coordinated their outfits, with Moira adding a black necklace to complement her ivory suit.

As any fan of Schitt's Creek knows, all of Moira's wigs have names. Kristen and Robin do not get along and should always be separated, while Maureen does not like to be "man-handled." It's too bad for Jocelyn, who was on the verge of reaching and touching Maureen to see if she was made of real hair.

The Feathered Bob

Here Moira aims for an edgier look, wearing this bobbed wig with a feathery embellishment on one side. Some of these wigs are so distinctive they are like characters themselves. When Moira isn't wearing her wigs, they are displayed in the hotel room around her dressing table, a carryover from the days when the wigs would have a whole room to themselves in her mansion.

Moira has so many wigs that it would take a whole day to rebox them, according to Johnny. It sounds like doing so should be fine so long as Kristen isn't next to Robin.

The Platinum Blonde Bob

Another bob, another monochrome look. This time, Moira is wearing a platinum blonde wig cut into a blunt bob. Schitt's Creek hairstylist Ana Sorys and creator Dan Levy had between eight and ten wigs available on set for O'Hara to choose from before she started filming. She would often choose the wig impulsively, without much thought. "Whatever wig called to her, she would put it on, twist it around, wear it sideways, or wear it backwards," Levy confided.

The Red Streak

Moira fills the role of Hot Topic mom perfectly with this red streak in an otherwise dark wig. In her portrayal of Moira, O'Hara drew on her memory of two women in her life who would wear different wigs throughout the evening at their house. Like Moira, they had real hair, and the wigs were all for show. For O'Hara, knowing she would be able to take any of the wigs off Moira's wig wall eased her concerns about being locked into one aesthetic and a static, shallow character for however long the show would run.

The Brunette Curls

These delicate brunette curls are a refreshing change from the blonde and black wigs we've covered so far. They aren't as dramatic as the other wigs on that list, but perhaps that is part of its charm.

O'Hara insists that Moira's love for wigs is related to her desire to present different versions of herself to boost her confidence.  After losing her old life, it was more important to her than ever that people knew she was more than an impoverished aging actress. O'Hara describes the mentality as I have more to me, too. I can be different. I can still grow.

The Red Wig

A family barbecue is a perfect occasion to show off some new looks in front of family and friends. Moira took advantage of such an event in the Season 3 finale to try out being a redhead. She is looking fabulous and chatting away with David in this scene. She wore her usual red lipstick (which happens to be the shade "Ruby Woo" by MAC), oversized sunglasses, and an elaborate metallic necklace that complemented the fire-engine red of her wig. As we said, fabulous.

The Pink Wig

Despite coming from a small town herself, Moira was devastated about moving to rural Canada without any of the luxurious amenities she was used to as a high flying one-percenter. Perhaps that was why she left -- Moira didn't fit into small-town life, and she knew she was never going to fit in at Schitt's Creek. Not only that, but she had no intention of ever doing so. What better way to communicate that than with her outrageous outfits and this bubblegum pink wig that looks like it was stolen from an anime character?

The Green Wig

Here is another wig that resembles part of someone's cosplay. The seafoam green color pairs perfectly with another metallic ensemble from Moira, complete with a statement necklace. With so many monochromatic outfits and statement pieces in silver, one wonders whether there is more to her sartorial tastes than a theatrical flair and desire to stand out. O'Hara herself said that Moira's wigs are like armor, a reminder of who she used to be and who she planned to be again. Her clothes (and wigs!) offer her protection for her sense of self.

The Wig As A Hat

Finally, the number one entry on our list isn't a wig per se, but a wig worn as a hat. In this creative turn, Moira wears one curly brown wig on top of -- but not entirely covering -- her natural blonde hair. It's a very striking look as she throws herself into yet another Schitt's Creek community project. This time it's a rehearsal for Cabaret.

What O'Hara liked most about Moira's wigs was that it was about continually reinventing her character. Moira is someone who believes that everyone has more potential than they have been able to show, and she remains committed to this ideal throughout all six seasons. We can't wait to see the fruits of her labor as the series comes to a close.
