The denizens of Schitt's Creek are a motley collection of eccentric characters, who only become more memorable with the addition of the Roses, the riches-to-rags family that's forced to move to their small town after losing everything. Over six seasons of Schitt's Creek, the Roses go from being an insufferable and emotionally detached family to becoming some of the most lovable members of the community, and everyone accepts everyone for -and in spite of- their idiosyncrasies.

For better or for worse, Schitt's Creek is stuck with the Roses, and they're stuck with the town, and that proves to not be such a bad thing after all. As the two worlds collide, everyone's best and worst traits come into sharp relief, and they learn to function together with hilarious results.

David: Best - Open Minded/Worst  - Overly Critical

Don't let David's neurosis fool you - when he's feeling himself, he's absolutely fearless. A visionary at heart, he's able to see the potential for a chic urban general store in a rural town like Schitt's Creek and open-minded enough to expand the town's awareness in areas from face cream to pansexuality.

At his worst, David can ironically be incredibly critical; of other people, their life choices, and oftentimes of himself. Slowly but surely over the course of a few years spent in Schitt's Creek, he grows and matures enough to let go of some of the emotional walls he'd built in his life, becoming a much more relaxed and grounded person.

Alexis: Best - Optimistic/Worst - Self-Absorbed

Alexis Rose best and worst trait

If she was going to be stuck in Schitt's Creek, Alexis was going to make the most of it, and out of all her family members she had the most growth. Whether she's organizing room parties to improve morale at the Rosebud Motel or Singles Week to make Schitt's Creek a destination, Alexis's unbridled optimism sees her through some pretty tough times.

Her self-absorption takes a long time to shed because in her mind, everything revolves around her life and choices. As she becomes more fulfilled embarking on her journey as a PR director, helping to revive Moira's celebrity presence and getting Rosebud Motel recognized on social media, she grows much more sensitive to the concerns of others.

Johnny: Best - Altruistic/Worst - Presumptuous

Johnny Rose best and worst trait

Out of all the Roses, Johnny's heart is in the right place. He genuinely wants to see others succeed right alongside his accomplishments. Even if he doesn't know how to express his emotions any better than the rest of his family, he takes the first step and encourages them to do the same. Even though he knows nothing about running a motel, he does his best and eventually turns it into a franchise.

Along with Johnny's unflappable altruism comes his knack for presuming everyone wants his unsolicited advice. While Stevie is thankful for his assistance with the Rosebud Motel, she isn't so excited about being inundated with decades of business acumen. And even though his children appreciate his concern about their lives, it doesn't mean they want to be embarrassed by his effusive pep talks.

Moira: Best - Confident/Worst - Melodramatic

Moira Rose looking happy/dramatic

Moira is a unique performer whose sense of style -both with fashion and word choice- puts her in a category all her own. She has the confidence to wear leather, pink wigs, and use phrases like "barbarous jape" unapologetically. Because of her beaming self-worth, Moira is a maverick, and people are drawn to her audacity, which allows her to lead by example and inspire the people of Schitt's Creek.

At her worst, Moira can be melodramatic to the point of incredulity, making mountains out of molehills and turning even the most insignificant slight into a carefully coordinated personal attack. At the onset of a bad review, she's been known to lock herself in a closet for a week.

Stevie: Best - Loyal/Worst - Pessimistic

Stevie best and worst trait

Beneath her prickly veneer, Stevie is the most loyal friend and business partner that the Roses could ever have. She might not have been the person they saw inviting into their family and their future, but she remains a stalwart part of their lives, especially for David and his new roots in Schitt's Creek, and Johnny and his burgeoning motel empire.

While Stevie can be shrewd, her assessment of people and life can be downright pessimistic. Because she fancies herself a realist, her skepticism can sometimes color her opinion of others before she really gets to know them, like the Roses when she first meets them.

Patrick: Best - Sincere/Worst - Competitive

Patrick playing guitar and then playing baseball

Patrick comes into the Roses lives at just the right time, helping David to start his own business and learn about himself at the same time. Warm, genuine, and above all sincere, Patrick allows David to feel safe and loved so that he can finally let his walls down and appreciate a relationship that isn't based on status or wealth.

He may seem like he doesn't have any flaws, but get Patrick involved in a game of baseball, or focused on working around some of the zoning restrictions with Schitt's Creek city council, and be prepared to see a true competitor who can be passive-aggressive and condescending.

Roland: Best -  Generous/Worst - Oblivious

Roland best and worst trait

The mayor of Schitt's Creek is known for being a well-meaning bumbler from time to time, but his most salient trait and finest quality is by far his overwhelming generosity. When the Roses are new to the town and don't know anyone, he takes it upon himself to welcome them and treat them like family. He sets them up with rooms at the Schitt's Creek Motel, gives them the use of his pickup truck, and even offers his cabin for them as a getaway.

Though he tries to help by doing handy work around the Schitt's Creek Motel, he ends up causing more problems than he fixes. Roland doesn't intentionally try to cause any trouble or anyone harm, but his obliviousness sometimes makes it seem like he's completely self-centered.

Jocelyn: Best - Compassionate/Worst - Frazzled

Jocelyn best and worst trait

Similar to Roland, Jocelyn is a kind-hearted woman who just wants everyone to feel welcome and supported. An educator in Schitt's Creek, she is responsible for developing young minds, whether they're interested in her tutelage or not. She encourages the Roses to get involved in their community because she wants them to feel a connection to it, especially Moira through Jazzagals and Alexis through completing high school.

If she's given too much of herself to others, without taking enough time to focus on herself, Jocelyn can get more than a little frazzled. She's surprisingly aggressive when this is the case, and it's not her best side.

Ted: Best - Kind/Worst - Indecisive

Ted best and worst trait

Ted is one of the kindest people in Schitt's Creek, and even if he had nothing to do with being the town veterinarian, he would still radiate warmth and sweetness. He gives Alexis a job in his office despite her lack of qualifications and sees her potential to be a good person even if she doesn't.

Ted's main flaw is his indecisiveness because his inability to be a man of action causes him to lose out on a lot of his own personal goals. It's not until the end of the series that he decides to do what's best for himself, even if it means hurting some of the people he cares most about.

Twyla: Best - Selfless/Worst - Naive

Twyla best and worst trait

The stalwart server of Cafe Tropical, Twyla is truly selfless when it comes to tending to the Roses every day. Not only does she put up with their idiosyncrasies, but she also listens to their complaints, all with a smile on her face.

Despite having a wide variety of strange stories involving her eccentric family members, Twyla isn't that rich in life-experience, so she can come across to others as naive if she isn't careful. The Roses help her to be more worldly in their own way so that she won't be taken advantage of, which helps when she reveals to the town that she's actually a millionaire.
