Revolving around the dysfunctional Rose family as they lead a new life in the titular town, Schitt's Creek has garnered a huge fanbase for each of its four lead characters, along with its supporting characters, like Roland Schitt. Whether it be Moira Rose's sassy comebacks or David Rose's panicky rants, the Canadian sitcom is filled with one quotable line after another.

However, along with the humor, the show also does a good job of balancing dramatic tones, when required. This is evident in scenes where the characters either profess their love for each other or come to some truthful realizations.

"I Like The Wine And Not The Label."

Early on in season 1, David subtly reveals his pansexuality to Stevie Budd. As both are shopping for a bottle of wine, David uses wine itself as a metaphor to delve into his sexual orientation. The quote adds to a major moment, as it shows David's closeness and increased trust with Stevie, who would go on to become his best friend.

The same episode shows David's father, Johnny, understanding his son's orientation and coming to terms with it, making for one of the most wholesome moments in the show.

'I Don’t Skate Through Life, David. I Walk Through Life In Really Nice Shoes.'

As Alexis accompanies David for his driving test, her brother seems to be stressed out and starts ranting about the sacrifices that he has made for her. He adds that Alexis leads a far more privileged and comfortable life than him, stating that she just skates through life.

In her usually straightforward tone, Alexis replies by saying that she boldly walks through life in really nice shoes. Alexis aptly shows how she maintains her perseverance, even in the face of tension, unlike the other members of her family.

"Tweet Us On Facebook!"

Johnny Rose explaining to David about getting a job in Schitt's Creek.

As Johnny Rose tries finding a new business pursuit in life, he plans on rebranding the Rosebud Motel. But the technologically inept Johnny hardly has any idea when it comes to promotion via social media.  The hilarious line, "Tweet us on Facebook" bears further testimony to this. Similarly, even the word "hashtag" is alien to him, given how he asks, "Is that two words?"

It's only ironic that Johnny is so unaware of technology, despite his children actively being addicted to their smartphones.

"Fold In The Cheese."

The Fold in the cheese moment from Schitt's Creek

In what turns out to be a failed bonding session, Moira and David plan to make enchiladas based on an apparent "family recipe." However, both mother and son are bad at cooking to the point of not even understanding the recipe's instructions. As Moira commands David to "fold in the cheese," David wonders about the meaning of this instruction.

All through the episode, they try their best to truly fold in the cheese, as Moira is hellbent on proving that she can cook. After a funnily frustrating exchange of dialogue, the end result is a half-burnt culinary mess.

"What You Did Was Impulsive, Capricious, And Melodramatic. But, It Was Also Wrong."

After Johnny Rose's sale of the town falls through, David realizes that his stay in Schitt's Creek will be extended. In a fit of rage, he leaves the motel, hoping to escape for good. After he's finally found, Moira seems to be scolding him, but she's also praising his impulsive and melodramatic mannerisms.

It's no secret that Moira herself is one of the most dramatic characters on the show, throwing tantrums every now and then. With this bittersweet quote, she bizarrely proclaims her admiration for David, who seems to be walking in her footsteps.

"This Just Felt Like The Perfect Place To Ask You To Marry Me."

Patrick proposing to David in Schitt's Creek

Compared to his flawed peers in the sleepy town of Schitt's Creek, Patrick Brewer is a genuinely wholesome character who never shies away from expressing his love for his boyfriend-turned-husband, David.

Despite knowing that his partner isn't cut out for outdoor activities, he still plans a hiking trip with David. As David begins his usual tirade of complaints, Patrick suddenly changes his mood by asking for his hand in marriage. The scene is one of the most genuine moments in Schitt's Creek and Patrick's adorable proposal is quite unforgettable.

"Ew, David!"

Alexis saying ew david! in the episode allez-vous on schitts creek

Siblings Alexis and David are no less than frenemies, usually dissing each other with one insult or the other. At times, Alexis doesn't even bother delivering one of her witty one-liners as a dig at him. Instead, all she says is "Ew, David." Even though the phrase is repeated in only three episodes, it has become quite synonymous with Alexis's character.

The first time Alexis ever said, "Ew, David" was in a season 1 episode when Ted has a brief tiff with her. Unaffected by this incident, David tells Alexis about a product that prevents aging and dead skin. Saying, "Ew, David," she storms out of the room.

"I Know You Hate Your Hair, Moira. Almost As Much As You Hate This Town."

Jocelyn Advising Moira in Schitt's Creek

Jocelyn Schitt is a sweet-talking "Jazzagal" and probably Moira's only friend in town. However, in the initial episodes, Moira does nothing but judge Jocelyn and her life choices. Jocelyn doesn't seem to be bothered by Moira's generally condescending nature.

However, after Moira expresses her disappointment in sporting a hairstyle similar to Joceylyn's, the latter gets to the point and tells Moira how she's very well aware that the former socialite and actress doesn't feel at home at Schitt's Creek. She, however, also adds that Moira doesn't have much of a choice and must adjust to the town that's otherwise filled with good-natured people who mean her no harm.

"My Car Is Worth Less Than Your Pants."

Stewie talking to David in Schitt's Crack

Largely relying on deadpan humor, Stewie offers some of the most sarcastic quotes in the series. She's not one to mince words and always gets to the point. As can be seen from this situation, she offers David a reality check regarding his high-priced fashion choices.

And this is very true, given how the Rose family (barring Johnny Rose) spends a fortune on high-quality fashion despite their tight financial situation. Whether it be his fancy sweaters or trousers, David also doesn't shy away from such habits. And as Stewie points out, her beat-up car might also cost less than a pair of pants in David's wardrobe.

"If You're Looking For An A** To Kiss, It's Mine."

Roland Schitt smiling at Moira as Johnny looks on Schitt's Creek

Schitt Creek mayor, Roland Schitt, is friendly to everyone in his vicinity, even though others might find him repulsive. This can be understood from quotes such as this.

While on the surface, it might sound like Roland is proudly showing off his administrative powers, and he actually doesn't even mean it in a patronizing tone. Instead, this is Roland's strange way of introducing himself to the newly-arrived Roses.
