Even though it ended after six seasons, there is no denying that Schitt's Creek has become something of a television phenomenon. Following the once-wealthy Rose family, as they suddenly find themselves broke and forced to live in the lowly eponymous town, the show proved to be highly successful due to groundbreaking moments, unique and funny storylines, and a fantastic cast of main characters.

With such well-written characters, each one has a backlog of memorable lines over the course of six seasons. Among those quotes, there is at least one that summarizes their personality perfectly - whether it's general advice or a passing comment.

Johnny Rose: "Let Me Explain Something About Business. It's A Dance. And Sometimes You Lead. And Sometimes You Follow."

Johhny Rose (Eugene Levy) looking shocked in Schitt's Creek

Johnny is the Rose family patriarch and the most rational of the family. Once the CEO of Rose Video, his wealthy lifestyle came to a crashing halt when Rose Video's business manager steals all of their money.

Regardless of his financial situation, Johnny is a very hard worker and an experienced businessman. Rose Video was the second most successful video chain store in America, and his newest venture, Rosebud Motel, was certainly on its way to success in the series finale. This quote not only summarises Johnny's business knowledge but also his willingness to take charge when needed. To learn to be a team player, whether it's business or supporting his loved ones.

Moira Rose: "What You Did Impulsive, Capricious And Melodramatic... But It Was Also Wrong."

Moira tries to save her wigs in Schitt's Creek

Eccentric former soap actor Moira Rose is the matriarch of the Rose family. With a marvelous performance from Catherine O'Hara, Moira became just as iconic as the show itself, proving to be a scene-stealer in almost every moment she was on screen.

With her strange but memorable choice of words, Moira is perhaps the most quotable character on Schitt's Creek, with there being a number of funny yet unusual "Moira-isms." So this is perhaps why the quote that sums Moira up the most is when they find David after he disappears without notice. It not only demonstrates her odd vocabulary but also shows how, as a rather dramatic and passionate person herself, she is pleased to see this trait passed on to her children.

David Rose: "The Idea Of Me Life Coaching Another Human Being Should Scare You. A Lot."

David looks shocked in Schitt's Creek

David is the rather high-maintenance son of Johnny and Moira. Although initially spoilt and generally disapproving of others, David soon is coaxed out of his shell by an eventual friendship with Stevie and opening Rose Apothocary with business partner Patrick (which later blossomed into romance).

Perhaps David's biggest personality trait throughout the show is that he is insecure. The above quote was his response to Jocelyn when she asked him to talk to one of her students who was questioning their sexuality. It's clear that David doesn't think he would be the best person to talk to (probably since many people didn't often come to him for advice), which is why this serves to highlight David's both his vulnerability and honesty.

Alexis Rose: "I Don't Skate Through Life, I Walk Through Life... In Very Nice Shoes."

Alexis on the phone in Schitt's Creek

Daughter Alexis has one of the best character arcs in Schitt's Creek, which is a delight to witness. Starting off as extremely spoilt and self-centered, Alexis soon grew to become an independent and kind young woman, who ended up starting her own marketing business.

However, even with this character growth, Alexis retains her love for the finer things in life, and this quote is fitting for her throughout. To start with, Alexis had everything handed to her on a silver platter and she easily walked through life without a care. The more mature Alexis also walked through life but this time, it was to take time to find herself, her goals, and what really mattered to her. Either way, she does it in very nice shoes.

Stevie Budd: "I'm Incapable Of Faking Sincerity."

Stevie stands and looks down in Schitt's Creek

Stevie is the introverted clerk at the motel the Roses are forced to call home. Although she prefers her own company, Stevie soon develops a strong friendship with David and goes into a business partnership with Johnny with the Rosebud Motel.

One of Stevie's notable qualities is that she is honest, and will not be afraid to tell someone the truth, no matter how hard it is. She tells this to David when he asks her whether she thinks his business idea is a good one. Stevie's "incapability" of faking sincerity implies both her biting, brutal honesty but also her genuine softer feelings for others.

Roland Schitt: "If You're Looking For An A** To Kiss, It's Mine."

Roland shushing in Schitt's Creek

Roland is the obnoxious and idle mayor of Schitt's Creek. On many occasions, more so in the earlier series, Roland unintentionally proved to be rather irritating to the Roses, particularly Johnny. But despite his incompetence, his heart is always in the right place and he soon proves himself to be one of the Roses' greatest friends.

By nature, Roland is a very carefree person and doesn't seem to care what others think of him. Yet, he is very proud to be the mayor of Schitt's Creek and will use that to his advantage. This strange yet honest introduction to the Roses sums this up well and is also a very memorable Schitt's Creek quote in general.

Jocelyn Schitt: "I'm Upset. I Don't Like What This Campaign Is Doing To Me. The Other Day, I Called Another Driver An Effing Moron. I Didn't Say The 'F' Word, But I Said 'Effing,' And That's Not Me!"

Jocelyn smiles in Schitt's Creek

Good-natured Jocelyn is Roland's wife and a teacher at the local high school. When they arrive, Jocelyn is happy to welcome the Roses into the town and becomes a dear friend to Moira in particular.

Jocelyn is very kind and positive and doesn't like conflict nor profanity, so it takes a lot for her to snap or say a bad word about someone. There have been a few instances where this has been seen, but one such example was during the election campaigns for the town council. This quote perfectly sums up Jocelyn's sweet-tempered nature in a rather hilarious way, in particular with the use of "effing."

Patrick Brewer: "Unlike The Birthday Clown, I Will Be Back."

David and Patrick in Schitt's Creek

Patrick didn't appear in the show until season 3 but he very easily became one of the show's most beloved main characters. Starting as David's business partner for Rose Apothecary, Patrick soon fell for David, leading to perhaps one of the sweetest romantic relationships in television.

Patrick compliments the insecure David by being patient, confident, and level-headed, yet he also demonstrates a rather dry sense of humor. Patrick says the above to David after the latter had opened up about his past failed relationships, one of which included a birthday clown that left him. This line not only emphasizes Patrick's witty humor but also affirms how much he adores David, despite his flaws.

Twyla Sands: "I Have Everything I Need Right Here... It's About How You Live Your Life. You Know, Doing What Makes You Smile."

Twyla smiling in Cafe Tropical in Schitt's Creek

During their first day in Schitt's Creek, the Roses meet bubbly Twyla, a waitress at the Cafe Tropical. Throughout the series, she is kind, optimistic, and very sweet towards everyone, and Twyla soon becomes one of Alexis's closest friends on Schitt's Creek.

One of the biggest surprises of the final episode is that Twyla reveals that she is in fact a millionaire, having won the lottery just before the Roses arrived. When Alexis asks her why she hasn't done anything with it, she explains that she has always been happy with what she had and that she believes money doesn't always buy happiness. This affirmation sums up how Twyla is naturally a happy person, as well as her positive outlook on life. Her happiness merely grows even more when she uses her winnings to buy Cafe Tropical, the one thing that makes her truly happy.

Ted Mullens: "I Was Just Giving Them A Little Pup Talk."

Ted smiling in Schitt's Creek

Ted is Schitt's Creek's resident vet, who is first introduced when David needed to see a doctor but is instead directed to see Ted (the closest thing Schitt's Creek had to a medical profession). Sweet and considerably charming, Ted is also notable for having a slightly on-off romance with Alexis.

The above quote is mentioned to Alexis when she catches him talking to the dogs at his veterinary practice before Singles Weeks. It perfectly shows his sweet, lovable, and slightly goofy personality, and furthermore, it highlights just how much he loves and cares for animals.
