Schitt's Creek has swept American audiences since it became available via Netflix, with its heartwarming storylines and its hilarious situational comedy. What sets the show apart is how much we get to grow with these characters. Opposed to the typical sitcom with a formula of wholesome characters that engage in funny bits, Schitt's Creek starts with characters that are unapproachable, unlikable, and uninteresting. When their decadent lifestyle is uprooted, they are forced to move to the only asset they have left, a rural town bought as a joke for their son David (Dan Levy).

Some of the most heartwarming and funny aspects of the show are the characters' relationships. As Alexis (Annie Murphy) and David start to date the townspeople of Schitt's Creek, their past relationships surface, sometimes in quirky one-liners, sometimes taking up the plot of the whole episode. Here is a list of David and Alexis' weirdest relationships, ranked.

Prince Harry

In Season 3 Episode 7 Alexis goes back to high school to finish her degree. While in Jocelyn's class, they study Marie Antionette Queen of France at the height of the revolution. Alexis mentions that she used to be called Marie by her friends because Alexis was casually dating Prince Harry. They wondered if Alexis would eventually become a princess.

Unfortunately for her, the relationship didn't work out, but Alexis doesn't seem phased by it. She notes that they were both partying too hard when they got together.

Stavros

When the Roses first move to Schitt's Creek, Alexis is still with her boyfriend Stavros who is only seen on screen in the Christmas Episode through Johnny Rose's (Eugene Levy) flashback. Stavros and Alexis have an on again off again fling. When he breaks up with her for the last time in the pilot she offers us a glimpse into how tumultuous it has been.

In the first episode, she says, "He's broken up with me 5 times already." The myriad of ways he breaks up with her is wild, to say the least. One involves him leaving molly in her car causing her to get arrested, and another where he abandons her in Rio.

Mutt Schitt

While Alexis and Mutt (Tim Rozon) have a sweet affair, their relationship is oddly matched, and definitely falls under the category of weird. While his brooding grungy bad-boy looks and sentiment are attractive to Alexis, Mutt is constantly challenging her. He doesn't really take the time to get to know her until later in their courtship.

It is a relationship born out of jealousy as Alexis seems to desire Mutt even though he is with Twila at the time. Though when they finally get together it is apparent neither can make it work. Alexis prefers conversation to Mutt's silence, she needs stimulation to Mutt's tranquility. They continue to share a deep connection, but never hook up again.

Patrick

Patrick and David's relationship is weird but good weird. Their opposition in personality is unlike Stevie and David or Alexis and Mutt. David and Patrick's differences allow them to grow as a couple. David encourages Patrick to enjoy sex outside of their relationship to help him come into his queerness, while Patrick gets David to confront his fears of sports from his past trauma with baseball as a child.

The Rose Apothecary is a good representation of how these two weirdly complement each other. The store's success depends on David's knack for beauty products and fashion, and Patrick's logistics and accounting. This is their initial partnership. However, as their relationship grows they swap roles, with Patrick drumming up new business with an open mic, and David's pursuit of clients like Ted's girlfriend Heather Warner. Their oppositions teach each other despite their differences and makes the relationship a pleasure to watch.

The Saudi Prince

During her early courtship with Mutt, in Season 1 Episode 11, the two bond while doing their probationary hours cleaning up the Schitt's Creek community. During that time, he and Alexis talk about their longest relationships. Alexis clarifies that her actual longest relationship wasn't "voluntary."

She explains she was in a relationship with a Saudi Prince for three months, but the last two were spent trying to escape the palace and get to the American Embassy. This out-of-left-field answer is one of many of Alexis' wildest relationships, which she simply drops across multiple episodes for audience enjoyment.

The Sultan's Nephew

In Season 2 Episode 10, Alexis, while struggling to work as Ted's receptionist at the vet clinic, does succeed in being helpful to the patrons. She tries to help an old lady who continues to bring her cat into the office and tries to give her advice on what to do about an older gentleman suitor.

Alexis brightly waves off the woman's hesitation, mentioning her past relationship with a Sultan's nephew. He couldn't speak or look at her the entire time they dated. She claims making it work is easy, "we made it work for like half a regime change."

Sebastien Raine

The only ex of David's appears in the show (so far) except Stevie, Sebastien Raine is a famous photographer David used to date when he lived in New York City. Fans know that while David's life in the city was glamorous, it was also very lonely, with David not knowing which friends liked him or his money.

Sebastien is one of those manipulative people, as he tries to get Moira to pose for him. Without her permission, he takes pictures he hopes to use. But while Sebastian shows how unethical he is,  his manipulation allows the episode to prove David's growth as a character: he sees right through Sebastien and not only gets closure over their relationship but the pictures of Moira (Catherine O'Hara) as well.

Jake

Much of the comedy with Jake comes from the sheer awkward dynamic that results from the Jake, Stevie, and David throuple. Stevie and David initially meet Jake at a party and compete for his attention only to find out that Jake, a bisexual, likes both of them. The two try their best to make it work, but Stevie and David just can't seem to fit together with Jake.

Eventually, David bows out of the relationship while Stevie continues to see him. The most hilarious moment between the three of them is the dinner scene where both Stevie and David realize that Jake wants to pursue a throuple. Look for the facial expressions the two share, it's comedy gold.

Stevie

David's first "relationship" while in Schitt's Creek, at first he and Stevie rub each other the wrong way. But Stevie dismantles David's pretentious and hard exterior rather quickly with comic jabs at his persona. The two eventually couple up in the honeymoon suite at the motel. Their short but deep relationship involves a very awkward couples brunch at Ted's with Mutt, Alexis, and Twila, as well as a hilarious moment when Mr. Rose walks in on them in the honeymoon suite.

Unfortunately, when David realizes he can't continue their fling, Stevie is heartbroken, as she seemed to think she finally found someone to match her catty humor.

Aroon, The Thai Drug Lord

Throughout the seasons, Alexis slowly reveals various wild adventures she would take on her parents' dime. The joke in her weirdest relationship is two-fold, as it reveals a wild story about her (to the shock of her parents), while also showing how neglectful Moira and Johnny have been.

In Season 1 Episode 4, she reveals her stint with a Thai Drug Lord during a game of two truths and a lie with her parents. As the Rose parents guess the lie Alexis tells is that she was kidnapped in Thailand and had to bribe a drug lord with sex to escape; the lie is that her eyes are green.
