Paramount, working with Entertainment One, is bringing us more Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, with a sequel to the 2019 horror film currently in the works. The first movie was produced by Guillermo del Toro, written by Dan and Kevin Hageman, and directed by André Øvredal. It was released in theaters on August 9th, 2019, and did relatively well with critics, fans, and the box office.

According to THR, Øvredal and the first film's writers are returning to their roles. Del Toro will help shape the story, but it's unclear if he will return as a producer. Before Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, the Hagemans worked with del Toro on his animated Netflix series, Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia

The Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark movie is an adaptation of a series of books filled with frightening short stories, written by Alvin Schwartz and featuring terrifying illustrations by Stephen Gammell. The first of the three books was published in 1981. The film adapted a handful of memorable short stories, including "Harold" and "The Red Spot."

The end of the 2019 horror film successfully set up for a sequel, but until now, there was no word over whether it would be greenlit or not. There is also no information yet on the storyline for the sequel. The three original books had over twenty short stories in each, so there is plenty of terrifying material for the next Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark movie to adapt.
