After the success of Scary Movie 2000, an entire franchise of movies was born, that brought back some of the main characters time and time again. Cindy Cambell (Anna Faris) was the movie's title character alongside Brenda Meeks (Regina Hall), and the two were best friends in the first movie and would continue to be friends for sequels.

Cindy and Brenda have certain qualities to their friendship to admire while there are certainly some downsides. To be fair, not all installments of Scary Movie continue the same storyline. Regardless, the movies still have Cindy and Brenda be good friends but on certain occasions, they don't make the list as being best friend goals.

Best Friends: They're Still Friends During The Worst

In the first movie, there's not much to dissect about Cindy and Brenda's friendship. They have both been friends for years and act like typical teenagers gossiping about their other friends. As the franchise progressed, they remain friends in every storyline. They even go through the worst of the worst together.

The best example is in Scary Movie 3 that mimics War of the Worlds. Cindy remeets Brenda, who miraculously survives her death in the previous movie after the aliens attack the city. Together they travel to uncover the real story of the young ghost who claims that the answer to the invasion is in his father's heart. What best friend wouldn't support the other in saving the human race?

Not: They Don't Seem To Keep In Touch

After Scary Movie 2, it seems as though Cindy and Brenda didn't keep in touch. Cindy becomes the guardian of her nephew and when she picks him up at school, she meets Brenda, but Cindy had no idea that Brenda became a teacher. The friends even exclaim that it's been so long since they've seen each other.

In the same movie, Brenda meets her death, and Cindy doesn't look as distraught as most people would be at something like this. And in the third installment, Cindy had no idea that Brenda was even alive. It's safe to assume that Cindy hasn't seen Brenda in years.

Best Friends: Cindy Stayed Over Brenda's

It's nice to know that best friends can always rely on each other when they're not okay. In Scary Movie 2, Brenda receives a mysterious tape that, once watched, will kill the person who watched it in seven days. Brenda confides in Cindy about the tape - and anyone would be a bit nervous about tape claiming to kill you.

Brenda asks Cindy if she's willing to stay the night with her to ease her mind, as Brenda is already on day seven and is nervous about the possibility of the tape coming true. Cindy agrees without hesitation and goes back home with Brenda to binge on ice cream, popcorn and watch a movie.

Not: Brenda Was Willing To Let Cindy Die

In Scary Movie 2, Brenda, Cindy, and others take part in an experiment. Being survivors of the murder in the movie prior, they're believed to be closer to the threshold of death. Things take a turn when ghosts and supernatural things occur at the mansion they're staying at.

When skeletons come to life and start chasing Cindy, Brenda is just down the hall when she realizes that Cindy's in trouble. Instead of helping, Brenda hides around the corner and cheers when Cindy trips. Brenda is entirely willing to sacrifice her friend to save her own life.

Best Friends: They Know How To Have Fun

A prime example of Cindy and Brenda knowing how to have fun is shortly after Cindy is being chased by the Skeleton. Brenda realizes that Cindy was blowing everything out of proportion in being scared of the skeleton, as it's only made of bones. Brenda shows no fear and pops the head off the skeleton, so that it's no longer a threat.

She throws it to Cindy who's cracking up with laughter. The scene then cuts to Cindy and Brenda having even more fun, happily clapping and laughing, as they rearranged the entire skeleton just to have a laugh about it.

Not: Cindy Didn't Believe Brenda Leading To Her Death

It's not uncommon for friends to pull pranks on each other. In Scary Movie 3, Cindy is at Brenda's apartment to keep her company, and Brenda keeps pulling prank after prank on Cindy. When Brenda goes into the living room, ready to watch the movie, a spoof of The Ring turns on.

At first, Brenda calls for Cindy's help, but Cindy thinks it's another prank and refuses to go see what Brenda wants. Brenda really was in trouble and ends up meeting her end as a result.

Best Friends: Cindy Didn't Allow Brenda To Stay With Zoltar

In the fourth movie, the aliens are tied to the Martian Dolls from the famous bloody horror movie, Saw. When Cindy, Brenda, and other characters are trapped by Jigsaw, Brenda accidentally stumbles onto a hidden door. She later appears behind Jigsaw on the television screen.

When Cindy convinces Jigsaw to stop the invasion, Brenda reappears caressing Zoltar. They had some alone time and it seems that Brenda is a little smitten. Cindy doesn't think it a good idea, though, and pulls Brenda away while Brenda says goodbye to Zoltar. Clearly, Cindy was looking out for her friend with this one.

Not: They Don't Seem To Have Much In Common

It's likely that Brenda and Cindy were made to be best friends just because it was written that way. Throughout the franchise, there's not much indication that either of them have much in common. There are no shared opinions or any hobbies that they do together.

They're simply best friends because that's how it works in the movies, and that's certainly not something to aspire to when it comes to friendship.

Best Friends: They Fight Together

Any person willing to get into a fight with a man possessed by a spirit is a good friend. In the second movie, the ghost of Hell House takes over the body of the caretaker. In an effort to stop him, Cindy, Brenda, and Theo (Kathleen Robertson) become a spoof version of Charlie's Angels.

Together they actually manage to pull it off and help each other defeat the ghost - although it wouldn't be Scary Movie if the actual fight scene wasn't ridiculous.

Not: Brenda Wasn't There For Cindy

If really analyzing the movie's characters and storylines, it's safe to say that Brenda wasn't there for Cindy when she needed her most. The fourth movie threw out the storyline that Brenda died. Cindy goes into a flashback that she was once married and it's supposedly the same character she had a relationship with in Scary Movie 3.

Under some bizarre circumstances, her husband dies. Later on, when the aliens attack, she meets Brenda. They both thought the other was dead, so it's possible to speculate that Brenda never actually bothered to check if Cindy was alive, and didn't know she was married and her husband died.
