A photo of Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan after a training session has emerged online, causing fans to be excited about the possibility of an interaction between the two actors in the upcoming Marvel film, Avengers: Infinity War. In the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Johansson plays Natasha Romanoff (also known as Black Widow), while Stan plays Bucky Barnes (also known as the Winter Solider).
Despite having a roster of talent in the MCU, Stan and Johansson have had a couple of movies where they have worked together - the latest being last year's Captain America - Civil War. It can be remembered that by the end of Cap's (Chris Evans) trilogy capper, Bucky decided to be frozen again in Wakanda to prevent any possibilities of him being brainwashed and used by his enemies, just like what Helmut Zemo (Daniel Bruhl) did in the film. Romanoff, on the other hand, suddenly disappeared after her confrontation with Tony (Robert Downey Jr.) about switching sides to Steve's team. From there, we really do not know where she went.
The photo was posted by trainer Don Saladino on his official Instagram account showing both Johansson and Stan in workout gears. Its accompanying caption did not reveal anything significant about session and did not even reference Infinity War at all. Instead, Saladino wrote a lengthy note talking about "Holiday Prep" which supposedly will prevent everyone from being derailed on their diet plans due to the upcoming Memorial Day weekend. Earlier in the week, Stan himself posted a selfie with the caption "WS", confirming that he is back filming scenes as Winter Soldier for Infinity War.

In hindsight, the snap, in itself, does not confirm anything. For all we know, they happen to just be training on the same day with the same team. If the two are actually working on some stunts that involve the both of them, however, it raises the question of whether there will be a team-up fight featuring Natasha and Bucky in Infinity War. Over the course of their respective characters knowing each other in the MCU, they have always been on the opposite side of the fence starting in Captain America: The Winter Solider. However, given that there is looming danger in the horizon courtesy of mad titan Thanos, it's safe to assume that Black Widow and Winter Solider will be fighting on the same side, this time around.
On the flipside, while it is not impossible for Romanoff and Bucky to have some kind of action sequence together, with the cast sheet for Avengers: Infinity War full of star-studded talent, directors Joe and Anthony Russo will have to be a bit more creative in making sure their interaction feels organic to the overall story. That being said, if what the filmmakers did with Civil War was an indication of what they can do in ensemble movies, it is safe to say that they will not put any fighting sequence in Infinity War just for the sake of a thrilling action piece.
