The MCU's Avengers: Endgame was one of the biggest movies of all time. The film was the culmination of over a decade of build-up, universe building, and plot construction. While the main talking point from the movie was obviously the fate of Iron Man, a dark horse internet discussion stemmed from the quick fight between Scarlet Witch and the Mad Titan, Thanos.

It appeared that, during the fight, Scarlet Witch had the upper hand until Thanos called in an aerial strike from his army. This begs the question, can Scarlet Witch beat Thanos? This article will list the reasons why Thanos would win and some why Scarlet Witch would win.

Scarlet Witch: The Loss Of Vision

One aspect of a fight between Scarlet Witch and Thanos that would work in the former's favor is the emotional impact of the loss of Vision. Scarlet Witch's anger, grief, and immense power is a cocktail of destruction that Thanos would struggle to deal with.

Her anger would make her even more dangerous than she normally would be. She would be far less likely to hold back against Thanos, meaning she could unleash all of her power.

Thanos: His Vast Army

Thanos

When discussing Thanos in any fight it is important to remember that Thanos doesn't work alone. He is backed by a vast number of highly skilled warriors, skilled tacticians, and wizards. It is clear from this that Scarlet Witch would, in all likelihood, have to contend with Thanos and his army.

Thanos' huge army would certainly be too much for Scarlet Witch, regardless of how powerful she may be. The sheer size of his army alone is too much for one person.

Scarlet Witch: She Can Summon Reality Distorting Illusions

One of Scarlet Witch's powers is her ability to distort reality. Using her powers to their full extent, she would be able to drive Thanos mad with visions and other mind-bending realities. She could use these powers in a similar vein to Mysterio, tricking Thanos into acting in a certain way.

This is a huge advantage to have for Scarlet Witch, particularly if Thanos does not have the infinity gauntlet in this fight between the two. It is rumored that Scarlet Witch's reality-bending powers will be the basis behind the new Disney + show, Wandavision.

Thanos: Scarlet Witch Hasn't Learned The Full Extent Of Her Powers

One of the main strengths of Thanos in any fight between the two is the difference is experience. While Scarlet Witch is undoubtedly powerful, she has yet (in the MCU at least) learned the full extent of her powers. Additionally, she does not have the experience in battle that Thanos clearly possesses.

It may only appear to be a slight advantage, but Thanos' vast experience in combat will always stack heavily in his favor, allowing him to avoid repeating prior mistakes.

Scarlet Witch: She Can Give Thanos Bad Luck

One of her powers that wasn't really explored in the movies was Scarlet Witch's ability to influence future events. While she has some element of control over future events, it is very difficult for Scarlet Witch to put into practice so she can't guarantee that the Avengers will always win a battle.

However, she still has the ability to give her enemies bad luck. After her initial creation by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Scarlet Witch's powers were called 'hex powers' and they can manipulate probability to give people bad luck.

Thanos: He's A Master Tactician

One aspect of Thanos that is important not to overlook in any fight is his mind. After years of fighting, he has a wealth of experience he can call upon to bring down Scarlet Witch. Furthermore, it is clear that he would also be able to find a plan of attack that would help him claim victory.

It is very unlikely that Thanos would have never faced off against anyone with telekinetic powers similar to Scarlet Witch's, so we can assume that he would have some understanding of a way in which he could take her down.

Scarlet Witch: The Avengers

One of Thanos' main strengths is his army and the firepower that comes with it. Therefore, it only makes sense that one of Scarlet Witch's main strengths should be the Avengers. Having the Avengers with her would undoubtedly make her more powerful in her fight against Thanos.

The Avengers would level the playing field in terms of Thanos' army, preventing Thanos from asking for help whenever Scarlet Witch is getting the upper hand.

Thanos: How Hard Is It To Kill Thanos?

Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark aka. Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame

One thing we don't know about Thanos is just how hard it is to kill him using telekinesis and Scarlet Witch's other powers. While he can easily be killed by Thor's Stormbreaker, we don't necessarily know if he would be so susceptible to Scarlet Witch's powers.

Perhaps it may take an incredible amount of power for Scarlet Witch to kill Thanos with her telekinesis, a power level that she may not have the ability to control.

Scarlet Witch: Telekineses

That being said, while it is uncertain as to how much telekinesis would be enough to kill Thanos, there is no denying that it has some effect on the Mad Titan. While this may not necessarily be enough to kill him, it could certainly be enough to incapacitate him for a certain period of time.

After he is incapacitated, Thanos would be vulnerable to capture. While this isn't a victory that would result in a permanent end to Thanos, it would certainly still be a victory for Scarlet Witch.

Thanos: He Can Wield The Infinity Gauntlet

One cannot talk about a fight against Thanos without mentioning the infinity gauntlet. This cosmic glove allows Thanos to become one of the most powerful beings in the universe, giving the Mad Titan control over time, reality, and space to name but a few.

The infinity gauntlet would almost certainly guarantee Thanos a victory against Scarlet Witch. It almost always takes a group of Avengers to successfully fight Thanos while he is wearing the gauntlet, with at least one Avenger trying to remove the gauntlet.
