A new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has been released and has revealed a handful of new Gen 9 Pokémon for the very first time. In February, Game Freak announced that Gen 9 Pokémon Scarlet and Violet would launch this Fall on the Nintendo Switch. After months of silence, the Japanese developer finally gave players their first look at the upcoming RPGs with a new video that revealed several new Pokémon.

On June 1 Game Freak released the second Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailer which included new footage of the Gen 9 region, as well as an introduction to several features such as an online co-op mode. The star of the video though was the new Pokémon Scarlet and Violet box art Legendaries Koraidon and Miraidon. Although the mysterious Dragon's Pokémon-type is still unknown, the new mascots appear to be designed after vehicles with Koraidon's tire chest and Miraidon's rocket engine legs.

The Scarlet and Violet Legendary Pokémon weren't the only new Pokémon to be revealed though, as Game Freak also gave fans a glimpse into the Gen 9 Pokédex as well. Throughout the three-minute trailer, the protagonist can be seen battling a handful of new Pokémon such as Pawmi, Lechonk, and Smoliv. Below is a list of all the Gen 9 Pokémon revealed so far and every detail Game Freak has released about them.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Pawmi

The first new Gen 9 Pokémon to be revealed in Pokémon Scarlet And Violet is the adorable Electric-type Pawmi. The Mouse Pokémon looks to be the partner of the new character Nemona, who will serve as the Professor's assistant in the game's main story campaign.

According to Game Freak, Pawmi stores electricity in its cheeks and generates power by rubbing its paws against its face. The small Pokémon then reaches out its paws to shock opponents. Pawmi's fur also helps the Electric-type store the energy that is building up around its body. Its cute design and lore are very similar to popular Gen 1 Kanto Pokémon Pikachu.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Smoliv

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are getting an olive-based Pokémon with the aptly named Smoliv. The new Pokémon is a Grass/Normal-type that stores bitter-tasting oil at the top of its head. If the Pokémon gets startled it sprays out the oil all over opponents to slow them down.

In its Pokédex entry, it is revealed that the Gen 9 Pokémon is able to feed itself with the oil it creates from soaking up the sun. Because of this, the Olive Pokémon spends most of its time outdoors. Smoliv spawns with the "Early Bird" ability first introduced in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire's Hoenn region. If it's hit with a Sleep attack, it automatically wakes up quicker than it normally would.

Lechonk Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

The last regular Gen 9 Pokémon to be revealed during Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's second trailer is Lechonk. The Normal-type Hog Pokémon uses its nose to smell out berries in the wild, and because of its diet, Lechonk emits an odor that scares off Bug-type Pokémon.

The timid Pokémon can easily be startled and will charge toward an opponent out of fear. The lovable Pig is another Pokémon that will be used by Trainer Nemona in battles. Lechonk can have the Aroma Veil ability which debuted in Gen 8's Pokémon Sword and Shield in 2019, and it can also be caught with the Gluttony ability, which was first seen with Pokémon Sun and Moon's Ultra Beast Guzzlord in the Alola region.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Legendary Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon Revealed

The Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailer ended with the reveal of Gen 9 Legendaries Koraidon and Miraidon. Legendary Pokémon Koraidon can be encountered in the Scarlet version of Gen 9 RPG, while Miraidon is the exclusive Legendary mascot for the Violet edition. While there isn't much that fans actually know about the two dragons, they appear to play into the themes of "modern vs future" as Miraidon can be seen with a metal neck and digital eyes. In comparison, Koraidon seems to have organic skin without any robotic components.

In May, a Gen 9 Legendary Pokemon leak claimed that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's box art legendaries would have a Dragon/Fighting and Dragon/Electric Pokémon typing. While the new trailer didn't confirm this, the rumor also stated that both Gen 9 Legendary Pokémon would be ridable by the player. Many fans believe this could be true due to the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Legendaries both appearing to have been designed based on motorcycle vehicles. For instance, Koraidon features a massive tire on its chest while Miraidon has two jet engines on its leg. All of this is speculation, as Game Freak hasn't released any additional information on the Legendary Pokémon.

Returning Pokémon Confirmed To Be In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Not every new Pokémon featured in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailer is from Gen 9. Game Freak also unveiled a series of new returning Pokémon as well in the second video. Gen 8 Sword and Shield Galar Pokémon' Applin, Flapple, Appletun, Hattrem, and Hatterene appear to be making their return. In a scene at the start of the video, the Gen 9 protagonist can be seen in their room where several of the Galar Pokémon are featured as stickers on their wall.

The new video also showcased a handful of classic Pokémon in the wild as well as in battle. In a new screenshot, Talonflame uses one of its fire-attack moves. This confirms that its evolution line Fletchling and Fletchinder can also be captured in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The firey-hawk Pokémon line first made its debut in Pokémon X and Y's Kalos region. Below is a list of all the new returning Pokémon featured in the June 1 trailer.

Players won't have to wait too long for Gen 9 as Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's release date is November 18. Based on the second trailer, the new generation looks to be Game Freak's most ambitious project to date. On top of having a completely seamless open world, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will also feature an online co-op mode where players can run around select areas of the map together.

The Gen 9 RPGs also look to be overhauling many classic features in the franchise, such as the iconic Pokémon Centers which now look like portable gas stations. Despite all the new information, there is still a lot that fans don't know about Pokémon Scarlet and Violet such as the name of the Pokémon Gen 9 region, seemingly based on Spain. Based on everything released so far though, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is looking to have a massive Pokédex mixed with a balance of returning and new Pokémon.
