Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, unlike previous games in the series, features an expansive world that immediately opens up to players, meaning it’s possible to go catch Pokémon anywhere in the region from almost the start of the game. The Spain-inspired Paldea region is broken into four provinces named after the cardinal directions, and some unique Pokémon can be found in each of these areas. The East Province is further split into three smaller, numbered areas that function like the routes of older games, and a fourth area in the East Paldean Sea.

It should come as no surprise that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet each have version exclusives, so the list of Pokémon that can be found in each game is not exactly identical. There do appear to be fewer version exclusives than in previous installments such as Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, which is a welcome relief that makes trading to complete the Pokédex that much easier. A number of these exclusives can be found in the East Province, though the region also contains a wealth of Pokémon that can be found in both versions.

Pokémon of many different types can be found in the East Province, all of which have been compiled and catalogued by Serebii, with some areas favoring certain types more than others. On top of this, many of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s best Water-types can, unsurprisingly, be found in the East Paldean Sea. Pokémon Scarlet Exclusive Pokémon In Paldea's East Province

On top of the previous list, three Pokémon that can be found in the East Province are exclusive to Pokémon Scarlet. Of course, this means that they are unobtainable in Pokémon Violet, so trades will be necessary to obtain these exclusives. Charcadet’s evolutions are also locked behind version-exclusive items like Applin’s evolutions in Sword and Shield. This means that Scarlet players will be able to easily obtain Armarouge, but Ceruledge’s item is Violet-exclusive. Additionally, one of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s rarest Pokémon consists of two version-exclusive forms, meaning one of these can also be found in Scarlet.

Compared to Pokémon Scarlet, there are actually a couple of additional extra exclusives that are available in Pokémon Violet's East Province, bringing the total to five. Curiously, this area has an additional pseudo-legendary Pokémon in Violet. Compared to previous Pokémon games, where version exclusives generally inhabited the same area as each other, Scarlet and Violet's approach is somewhat novel for the series.

With a list of Pokémon that are obtainable in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s East Province, it should be easier to find an optimal place to Shiny hunt, although the new Pokémon games forgot Legends: Arceus’ best Shiny hunting feature. That being said, Shiny encounters in the overworld still make hunting much easier than it was in Sword and Shield. With many rare and powerful Pokémon inhabiting the East Province, there are some excellent Shiny Pokémon to be found.
