Apostle

Starring Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), Lucy Boynton (Bohemian Rhapsody), and Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex), Apostle isn't just a horror movie, it's also a period drama. Two of our most favorite things!

In 1905, Thomas Richardson (Stevens), a Christian missionary, returns home to London to learn that his sister, Andrea (Boynton), has been taken by a cult. Based on Shirley Jackson's 1959 novel, Netflix's re-imagining of the story follows five adult siblings who have a dysfunctional relationship thanks to the house they grew up in; a decades-old mansion that holds deep secrets and drives the family apart while also mysteriously bringing them together.

1922

Stephen King remains the undisputed Master of Horror thanks to Netflix's adaptation of his 2010 novella. The show 1922 begins with Wilfred "Wilf" James (Thomas Jane) making a written confession for a crime he committed in that year. Wilf reveals that he and his son murdered his wife, then covered it up.

Even though Wilf believed the crime would be the end of all of his problems, it soon proved that it was only the beginning. The horror sets in soon after the start and escalates in true Stephen King fashion until things come to a head at the very end... But, since we don't want to spoil it for you, we won't tell you how.

The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina

Like Riverdale, Netflix's The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is based on an Archie Comic. But, also like Riverdale, this series isn't nearly as adorably wholesome as the original comics it was based on.

Being a teenager is hard enough, what with school and homework and peer pressure. But for Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka), life as a teen is even tougher because she's not just a teen, she's also half-witch. As her 16th birthday approaches, Sabrina must make a decision. Will she embrace her half-human side? Or, will she turn to witchcraft, magic, and the occult instead? Yikes! And we thought we had it rough when we were in high school.

I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives In The House

The Affair's Ruth Wilson stars as a live-in nurse who's been hired to look after a patient with dementia in this Netflix original movie. Doesn't sound too scary, does it? Yeah, well, just you wait.

Lily Saylor (Wilson) moves in with retired horror writer, Iris Blum (Paula Prentiss). Upon her arrival, Lily learns that Iris's house was built in the early 1800s by a man for his wife, but the two disappeared on their wedding day. After a series of jump scares, some ominous foreshadowing, and copious amounts of tension, every secret behind the moldy, creaking walls of the home are revealed in I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House.

Gerald's Game

Based on Stephen King's 1992 novel of the same name, Gerald's Game will, in all likelihood, make you cry for your mom. So before you actively seek it out on Netflix and press play, don't say we didn't warn you.

Carla Gugino (The Haunting of Hill House) and Bruce Greenwood (Mad Men) star as Jessie and Gerald Burlingame in this Netflix original. The couple heads to a remote lake house for a romantic retreat, but when Gerald dies unexpectedly, Jessie is left handcuffed to the bed with no means of calling for help. As the hours go by, the voices in her head begin to take over and prove that the human mind is the scariest place of all.

Castlevania

It seems like Count Dracula is always ticked off about something. In Netflix's Castlevania, Dracula (voiced by Outlander's Graham McTavish) is mad because his wife was burned at the stake after being falsely accused of witchcraft. Actually...that sounds like a legitimate reason to be angry. Sorry we doubted you, Mr. Dracula.

Anyway, now Dracula's bent on revenge, and he summons an army of demons to terrorize the people of Wallachia — there's only one thing standing in his way: a guy named Trevor Belmont (voiced by Hannibal's Richard Armitage), the last member of the Belmont clan (a family famous for hunting down all sorts of monsters, including vampires). Horrifying at times and hilarious at others, Castlevania is worth a watch!

If you just can't get enough Dylan Minnette, then when you finish watching 13 Reasons Why for the billionth time, turn on The Open House. It's an hour and a half of non-stop horror that any scary movie lover will enjoy.

With a spooky mountain setting, a string of eerie circumstances, and neighbors with erratic behavior, The Open House is a real nail-biter.
