The trailer for Peacock's Saved by the Bell revival features an appearance from original cast members Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley, fans were surprised that Zack and Kelly didn't show up in the teaser. Children of the 1990s still hold the original Saved by the Bell TV series in high regard. Essentially a school-set sitcom for kids, Saved by the Bell followed the adventures of Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and his friends in Bayside High.

A Saved by the Bell revival is in the works for NBC's Peacock streaming service, with the content aimed towards more of a teen audience than the more kid-friendly antics of the original series. The trailer for the new show promises slightly racier humor than the original series, as well as strong ties to the old show, including appearances from original cast members Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley, reprising their roles as A.C. Slater and Jessie Spano, respectively.

Two prominent cast members were missing from the teaser trailer: Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Tiffani Thiessen, who played Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski, respectively. It had been announced they would be in the show, so why weren't they in the trailer? As it turns out, it wasn't to surprise audiences or avoid spoilers; as reported by Entertainment Weekly, it was because of coronavirus.

Like pretty much everything in Hollywood's television and film industry, production on Saved by the Bell was shut down by the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. Due to scheduling conflicts, Gosselaar and Thiessen weren't set to return to Bayside until the final two weeks of shooting on the Saved by the Bell revival, and they didn't get to reprise their roles before the production was shuttered for the sake of safety. Thus, there was no footage of the two for use in the trailer.

Estimates vary as to when the country will reopen and production can resume on various projects, including Saved by the Bell, but it could take several months or longer, especially with ill-advised protests demanding various state governors to lift quarantine before safety can be assured. For now, the only thing to do is to stay at home whenever possible and to practice social distancing and wear a mask when outside trips are absolutely unavoidable. Do it for yourself and for your loved ones, and do it for Zack and Kelly, because the sooner this is resolved safely, the sooner they can return to Bayside High.
