Former Saturday Night Live cast member Will Forte has been announced as the late-night show’s next host. Forte began turning heads as a writer for hit series like 3rd Rock from the Sun and That 70’s Show before the comedian was discovered by the creator of Saturday Night Live, Lorne Michaels, himself.  During Forte’s SNL run that lasted from 2002-2010, the comedian became best known for his MacGruber character, who parodies the famed MacGyver. Forte’s MacGruber went on to the big screen in 2010 before landing a star-packed television series on Peacock in December of last year.

It has now been announced via SNL's Twitter that Forte will be making his Saturday Night Live hosting debut on January 22. Forte will be joined by the Italian rock band Maneskin, who won the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest.

Forte isn’t the first host this season making their hosting debut, as it almost seems to be Saturday Night Live season 47’s theme. Besides Paul Rudd who joined an iconic list of names when he graced the Five-Timers Club, every other host this season has been new to the role, including Jason Sudeikis, Owen Wilson, Kim Kardashian West, Rami Malek, Ariana DeBose, Kieran Culkin, Simu Liu, and Billie Eilish. Although Forte is no stranger to the late-night show, audiences will be ready to see the comedian take on the hosting role of a lifetime that he was made for on the latest installment of Saturday Night Live, which will be premiering January 22.
