Saturday Night Live is the latest show to shut down production due to coronavirus. The NBC variety show is going on an indefinite hiatus in response to the rapid spread of COVID-19. SNL had been on their scheduled hiatus for the past week and production was set to resume next week for the episode hosted by John Krasinski, with Dua Lipa as the musical guest, on March 28th.

According to Deadlinethere is no longer a scheduled return date for the show and production has been put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic. The virus had been looming over the show since the Daniel Craig episode on March 7th. No Time To Die, the new Bond movie Craig was meant to promote on the episode, delayed its release until November of this year. Saturday Night Live isn't the only NBC production to suspend filming, as their flagship late-night shows The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers have also stopped production.

SNL is one of dozens of shows that have halted production due to the COVID-19 pandemic. No platform is safe, as both traditional television and streaming platforms have been affected by the outbreak. Film productions and releases have also been halted or delayed, with most major movie theater chains closing to help combat the spread of the virus. COVID-19 has unfortunately reached some of Hollywood's biggest stars, with actors like Idris Elba testing positive for the virus. The entertainment industry has essentially shut down for the foreseeable future because of coronavirus, and only time will tell as to how this will affect Hollywood in the months to follow.
