Fashion, glamour, sex, and strong women are what made Sex and the City the fabulous show it was. Fans laughed and cried as they watched the relationship between Mr. Big and Carrie unfold. They were giddy with excitement when Charlotte met Harry and they had their darling girls. They were taken aback when Miranda moved to Brooklyn.

And of course, every Sex and the City fan was in awe of Samantha Jone's style and brazen attitude. After six seasons, two movies, and a revival, fans are still obsessed with the fashion and the relatable lives of all four women. Luckily for Sex and The City fans, there are plenty of shows to binge in 2022 that have a similar style, flair, and fierce female leads.

The bond between Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha is still talked about today and replicated in newer TV shows. Shows like The Mindy Project and Gossip Girl give off strong SATC vibes but there are others that fans should binge in 2022. 

The Sex Lives of College Girls (2021– )

Like Sex and the City, The Sex Lives of College Girls can be found on HBO Max. The comedy was created by The Office's Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble and focuses on four friends and roommates as they navigate college for the first time.

The juxtaposition between four friends navigating through life together hits home for SATC fans. Bad decisions from the main characters are made as they learn from their mistakes. Everything from balancing friends, romances, and school is covered, and although the women shown are younger than those on SATC, the ups and downs that life can toss are the same.

Emily In Paris (2020– )

In 2021, Netflix released season 2 of Emily in Paris. The fun and quirky series is created by the same creator of Sex and the City, Darren Star — so the vibes are incredibly similar.

The show focuses on Chicago-native Emily as she ventures to Paris for work. Without knowing the language or customs, Emily finds herself during a long list of failures. Emily eventually creates close friends in Paris and makes it her second home. Like SATC, there's a lot of romance, love triangles, friendship struggles, and of course, amazing fashion. Fans are already theorizing what's to come for season 3 of Emily in Paris.

Girls (2012–2017)

Girls was a TV series created by Lena Dunham. Just like SATC, this comedy-drama revolves around four women living in New York City. Girls may as well be a fictional inside look at the characters of SATC when they were in their 20s.

Girls lasted for six seasons and dove into raw female friendships. The realities of being a 20-something-year-old in New York City with the support of their friends were relatable for viewers. Just like SATCGirls has a raunchy sense of humor and a dedication to the importance of female friendships.

Never Have I Ever (2020– )

Never Have I Ever is another series created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher. The coming-of-age comedy-drama is based in California and focuses on 15-year-old Devi Vishwakumar. Devi is just a teen but she's given a hard lesson in life when her dad passes away.

When Devi heals and went back to school, she was ready to reinvent herself and create a new social circle. There are vast differences between Never Have I Ever and SATC, but Devi and Paxton's #CouplesGoals relationship can be seen as intoxicating as Carrie and Big's.

Younger (2015–2021)

Fans of Sex and The City will appreciate the drama, female friendships, fabulous outfits, and the glamorous events the characters attend in Younger. Liza Miller is recently divorced and broke, and looking for a fresh start. She does what she has to do and lies about her age to get hired at a publishing house in New York. There are ups and downs as the lies unfold, the secrets expose themselves and major relationships evolve only to crumble.

Fans will fall in love with the fierce women of this show like Maggie, Liza's long-time artist friend, who is the perfect amount of spunk, and Kelsey, Liza's new colleague, who is ambitious and loyal.

The Mindy Project (2012–2017)

Mindy Kaling shines in her performance as Dr. Mindy Lahiri, a successful OB/GYN who is not so triumphant in her love life. Throughout The Mindy Project, Mindy struggles with casual dating and long-term relationships in style. Mindy's best outfits are crush-worthy and her office is full of girly charm.

Dr. Lahiri's clinic is filled with interesting characters that fans will fall in love with; from the gruff Dr. Danny Castellano to the goofy nurse, Morgan. Sex and the City fans will become obsessed with fashion and the back and forth relationship between Mindy and a handsome man in the clinic. The series will remind fans of the dramatic love story of Carrie and Big.

Mom (2013–2021)

Mom tells the story of five women who are brave enough to try to live their lives clean and sober after years of being addicts. Marjorie, Christy, Bonnie, Jill, and Wendy are there for each other through the ups and downs of job loss, heartbreak, healing family wounds, and staying sober. The loyalty of these five women will remind fans of the beautiful connection that Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha shared.

Mom is hilariously heartwarming and fans will be laughing and crying as they triumph through the trials and tribulations together. After eight seasons, fans were happy to see the happy endings of each main character. Watching Mom will make fans wish they were sitting at the diner with the characters, just like they do after watching Sex and the City.

Dead To Me (2019– )

Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini will have you rushing home to your television in Dead to MeJudy and Jen are unlikely friends who are bonded together by the shared pain of loss and the secrets they keep for each other. These two balance one another as Judy is a people-pleaser who lets everyone push her around and Jen does not put up with anyone's nonsense.

The way Judy and Jen become a force to be reckoned with as the drama they are tangled up in unravels will remind fans of the strength the four women in Sex and the City held. Although Dead to Me is a dark comedy, the focus on secrets and friendship will be very familiar for SATC fans.

Gossip Girl (2007–2012)

This one is a bit of a given as the outfits in Gossip Girl alone are enough to make Sex and the City fans turn it on. But the sexy tumultuous relationships will keep them coming back for more. Fans never know who will end up with who, and most importantly, they never know who the mysterious "gossip girl" is.

Fans of Sex and the City will appreciate the never-ending back and forths and up and downs of Gossip Girl. They will also fall in love with the bond of Blair Waldorf and Serena Van Der Woodsen, nothing is more engaging than a strong female friendship.

Broad City (2014–2019)

Broad City is the unbelievably hilarious and relatable story of two best friends who try to figure out life in New York City. They are broke and fearless, the perfect combination for an exciting adventure. Ilana and Abbi always have each other's back, no matter the obstacle.

Broad City is a different take on life in New York, showing the much less glamorous side, but fans of Sex and the City will still get a kick out of the hysterical honesty and will fall in love with these two courageous women. Ilana and Abbi also go through ups and downs with boyfriends and girlfriends that fans also want to date (or stay away from) — just like SATC.

Shrill (2019–2021)

Shrill's Annie is an ambitious, curvy woman living in the quirky city of Portland, Oregon. Annie fights to be heard at the magazine she works for while also fighting with her mother who does not quite understand her.

If that wasn't enough Annie also struggles in her love life, falling for deadbeat Ryan. As Annie begins to accept her body with the help of her fierce best friend, Fran, she stops letting people walk all over her. Sex and the City fans will admire Annie's quotes on strength and confidence and will be rooting for her to be heard.

Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce (2014–2018)

Divorce is never an easy thing to go through, especially when the main character is a beacon of hope to others facing family issues. However, anything is bearable with the right girlfriends on Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce. Author of self-help books, Abby, finds comfort in her girlfriends— the same way the women in Sex and the City often did—when life throws a wrench at her.

Sex and the City and Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce reminds people that even in the tough times of life, surrounding a person with the right group of friends can make all the difference.

Good Girls (2018–2021)

Good Girls is filled to the brim with female power and loyalty along with crime, family turmoil, and tattooed gangsters. The main characters in Good Girls are as likable as those in SATC.

Beth, Annie, and Ruby have always been able to rely on each other when times get tough, but this time they might be in over their heads. The three brave women, who are determined to take back control of their lives, team up to rob a grocery store. It doesn't stop there though; it's a slippery slope for these three. Sex and the City fans will admire the courage of these women as they battle every obstacle together.

The Bold Type (2017–2021)

The Bold Type is filled with glamour, love life turmoil, and loyal female friendships, the same as Sex and the City were. It depicts three fabulous women, Jane, Kat, and Sutton as they lean on each other while they work endlessly on the magazine, Scarlet, and deal with the struggles of finding their individual unique voices.

The Bold Type is based on the life of Joanna Coles, who was the real-life magazine editor in chief of Cosmopolitan. The only thing that would make this story more Sex and the City-esque is if the three fab friends worked at Vogue.
