What to Expect from Santa Clarita Diet Season 3

Santa Clarita Diet season 3 will be unleashed very soon. Here's everything you need to know about the return of Netflix's zombie comedy.

Santa Clarita Diet Season 3

Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet season 3 is almost upon us. The series is a unique spin on the zombie format starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant as California real estate agents trying to balance work and married life, all the while protecting a big secret: Sheila Hammond is a zombie.

Created by Victor Fresco, Santa Clarita Diet is co-executive produced by Barrymore, Olyphant, and Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer. When the series premiered, Fleischer directed the first two episodes. Santa Clarita Diet is notable for its aggressive visual aesthetic, and has two veteran performers portraying the conflicted Joel and Sheila Hammond. In the past, Olyphant has starred in the TV dramas Deadwood and Justified, while Barrymore is mostly known for her feature film roles.

Based on the Santa Clarita Diet season 3 trailer, the new episodes will focus primarily on Joel Hammond’s continued conflict with his wife's predilection to eat humans. While the show is sure to continue developing the other core cast - most importantly Hammond daughter Abby (Liv Hewson) and neighbor Eric Bemis (Skyler Gisondo) - season 3 is selling itself again on the relationship between the two, with it hinted that Joel may choose to become a zombie to maintain immortal balance with Sheila.

Will Santa Clarita Diet Season 4 Happen?

If Santa Clarita Diet season 3 continues to be well-received by critics and fans, then it's expected Netflix will renew the series by May. The streaming service has a solid track record with comedy series; Netflix’s first comedy series, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, ran for four seasons, while the second comedy series, Grace and Frankie, was renewed for a sixth season in 2019.

In 2019, Netflix has experienced even more success with their comedies series. Michael Douglas won a Golden Globe award for The Kominsky Method, while Sex Education became a surprise hit. In addition, critics are raving about Russian Doll. So, if Santa Clarita Diet continues to entertain and surprise viewers, then season 4 is inevitable.
