The Legend of Zelda series has seen many unique and memorable dungeons throughout the years, but Skyward Sword’s Sandship stands out as one of the most creative. This ancient pirate ship once sailed the Lanayru sea thousands of years prior to Link’s adventure, but now, it floats in a sea of sand that's home to many dangerous creatures. While it has the layout one might expect from a boat, having the dungeon map will make navigating it, and finding all of its secrets, easier.

While players have access to a top-down map of each dungeon, they only have access to the rooms they’ve entered. After picking up the dungeon map, it will reveal every single room on every single floor. Further, it will also display the location of the boss room and treasure chests, so completionists can pick up every last rupee and relic hiding away. This guide will help players locate the Sandship’s dungeon map.

Finding the Sandship’s Dungeon Map in Skyward Sword HD

Skyward Sword Timeshift Stone

Link won’t have access to the dungeon map for the beginning of the Sandship, as in order to obtain it, he will first need to defeat the mini-boss guarding the dungeon’s item: the Bow! With this weapon, players can snipe at targets from afar with well-aimed arrows. While many might assume its only use is for assassinating unsuspecting enemies, this ranged attack plays an important role in the Sand Ship’s puzzles. There’s a timeshift stone that can appear at the ship’s mast after activating a button, and because it’s out of reach from Link’s sword, the only way to activate it is by shooting it with an arrow. Knowledge of this trick is not only important for puzzle solving in this dungeon, but also for reaching its map.

After activating the timeshift stone, enter the main door of the ship’s interior and head down the staircase on the right. Once downstairs, Link should follow the hallway on the right side of the room. Doing so will lead him to a large open room with some Bokoblin enemies to fight. Players can see the treasure chest containing the dungeon map behind the iron bars on the left side of the room, just waiting to be opened. Progress further to the far end of the room and enter the passage on the left with light shining down inside it.

While this room leads to the chest with the dungeon map players just saw, it’s blocked off by a current of electricity. This is where the bow and arrow come into play: if players look up through the hole in the ceiling, they can see the timeshift stone in the distance. Fire an arrow in between the iron bars to deactivate the stone, which sends the ship back into the present where the electricity is disabled. With nothing barring Link’s path, he can easily walk in and grab the dungeon map!
