Death of the Endless was the breakout star in Gaiman, Dringenberg, and Sam Kieth's iconic The Sandman series after the character first appeared in the comic's eighth issue. While portrayals of Death in comics and other media are usually dark and brutal, Death in The Sandman universe flipped the idea of what the entity was, as Death of the Endless was a smiling, high-spirited character who took the form of a beautiful goth girl.
