For the first time in half a century, Comic-Con International will not be taking place as a physical event - but movie and TV fans can still expect to see trailers coming out of the Comic-Con@Home virtual experience. Though Marvel Studios and DC Films are both skipping the celebration, there will still be streaming panels for comic book adaptations like The Boys, Marvel's Helstrom, and the long-delayed Marvel/Fox movie The New Mutants.

San Diego Comic-Con was officially cancelled in April 2020, as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The global outbreak has also led to the shutdown of production on most upcoming movies and TV shows, and the closure of movie theaters worldwide. As a result, release dates for this summer's movies have been pushed back, and shows like The Walking Dead and Riverdale were forced to end their latest seasons early. While some filming has tentatively resumed, much about Hollywood's future remains uncertain.

There are some upcoming TV shows and movies, however, that managed to wrap filming before lockdowns began in spring, and which are now ready to take on Comic Con 2020. Here are the movie and TV trailers that fans should expect to see from this week's panels.

Bill & Ted Face The Music

bill-ted-face-the-music

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter will be present for the Bill & Ted Face The Music panel at 3PM PT/6PM ET on Saturday 25 July. A teaser trailer for the upcoming sequel was released earlier this year, so we can expect to see the first full trailer at Comic-Con, ahead of the movie's planned August 28 release date. The panel will also feature actors Samara Weaving, William Sadler, and Brigette Lundy-Paine, as well as director Dean Parisot and writers Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson.

The Boys Season 2

The Boys

A trailer for The Boys season 2 was only recently released, but we can expect Amazon to reveal some more footage - whether it be another trailer, or a clip from the upcoming season - for The Boys' Comic-Con 2020 panel. Streaming on Thursday July 23 at 3PM PT/6PM ET, The Boys season 2 panel will feature the main cast of the show alongside executive producer Eric Kripke, with a special appearance by EPs Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen.

For All Mankind Season 2

For all mankind fantasy returns

The first season of alternate history drama For All Mankind was released on Apple TV+ in November 2019. Starring Joel Kinnaman, Michael Dorman and Jodi Balfour, the series is set in a world where the Soviets beat the USA to the first moon landing, resulting in the space race continuing and intensifying for decades afterwards. For All Mankind season 2 began filming in late 2019, but production was shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic. Still, it was filming for long enough that we can probably expect a trailer during the Comic-Con panel, which will take place on Saturday 25 July at 2PM PT/5PM ET.

Marvel's Helstrom

The Marvel Cinematic Universe won't be going entirely unrepresented at Comic-Con 2020, as we can expect to see a trailer for the upcoming Hulu TV show Marvel's Helstrom. Filming on this series managed to wrap just before production lockdowns began, so it can be expected to release in fall 2020 as planned. Helstrom stars Tom Austen and Sydney Lemmon as siblings Daiman and Ana Helstrom, who are the children of a powerful serial killer and team up to hunt the worst of humanity. The First Look at Marvel's Helstrom panel will take place on Friday 24 July at 3PM PT/6PM ET.

His Dark Materials Season 2

His Dark Materials, HBO's adaptation of the critically-acclaimed fantasy trilogy by Philip Pullman, premiered in November 2019, at which point filming on the second season was already almost complete. This means that His Dark Materials season 2 is fortunately not expected to be delayed by the coronavirus lockdown, and we can look forward to a trailer during Comic-Con 2020. The panel for His Dark Materials will take place on Thursday 23 July at 1PM PT/4PM ET.

Lovecraft Country

Jonathan Majors and Jurnee Smollett-Bell in Lovecraft Country

Based on Matt Ruff's horror fantasy novel of the same name and adapted for TV by Misha Green (Underground), Lovecraft Country is a new series coming to HBO from executive producers Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams. Set in 1950s America, Lovecraft Country follows Atticus Black (Jonathan Majors) and his friend Letitia Dandridge (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) as they travel across the country in search of Atticus' father. With Lovecraft Country set to premiere on August 16, 2020, expect to see some more footage during the panel on Saturday 25 July at 4PM PT/7PM ET.

The New Mutants

New Mutants Quality

The first trailer for The New Mutants was released all the way back in October 2017, and the 20th Century Fox movie has since been plagued by delays. Originally set for release in April 2018, it was pushed back to February 2019, then to August 2019, then to April 2020, and is now set for release on August 28, 2020. A new trailer for The New Mutants was released only a week ago, so its Comic-Con panel may instead feature clips or other footage rather than a typical trailer. The New Mutants panel will take place on Wednesday 23 July at 2pm PT/5PM ET.

The Comic-Con panel for Next will take place on Sunday 26 July at 11AM PT/2PM ET.

The Right Stuff

The Right Stuff Disney Plus

Another series exploring America's race towards the stars, National Geographic show The Right Stuff is based on the book of the same name by author Tom Wolfe, about the original Mercury Seven astronauts and the celebrity that engulfed them and their families as they competed for the chance to go to space - a chance that just might kill them. The Right Stuff is set to release on Disney+ in fall 2020, and a panel for the show will take place on Saturday 25 July at 1PM PT/4PM ET.

Star Trek Discovery Season 3

Sonequa Martin-Green as Michael Burnham in Star Trek Discovery season 3

Star Trek will be one of the biggest franchises making an appearance during Comic-Con@Home, with a series of Star Trek Universe panels kicking off on Thursday 23 July at 10AM PT/1PM ET. The event will also feature upcoming animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks, which will premiere August 8 on CBS All Access, and Star Trek: Picard, which wrapped up its first season in March 2020 but has not yet begun filming season 2, due to COVID-19 restrictions. Fortunately, Star Trek: Discovery season 3 had wrapped filming prior to production shutdowns, so fans can likely look forward to seeing a trailer for the next chapter of the show.

Utopia

amazon-utopia-series-cast

Adapted by Gillian Flynn from the British TV series of the same name, Amazon's Utopia follows a group of comic book nerds who find themselves targeted by trained assassins who will stop at nothing to prevent them from reading the sequel to their favorite graphic novel. First-look images for Utopia were released earlier this week, and the panel will take place on Thursday 23 July at 1PM PT/4PM ET. Expect to see the first trailer then, ahead of the show's premiere later in 2020.

Judith and Daryl in The Walking Dead Season 10 The Tower

The Walking Dead season 10 was cut short due to the fact that post-production work on the season finale was delayed by the coronavirus shutdowns. Season 10, episode 16 was instead planned to air as a special episode later in the year, and fans can look forward to both news of a release date and a promo during The Walking Dead panel on Friday 24 July at 1PM PT/4PM ET.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond

twd World Beyond

The third TV series in the franchise, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, primarily focuses on a group of young survivors who grew up during the zombie apocalypse. The Walking Dead: World Beyond panel will take place on Friday 24 July at 2PM PT/5PM ET.
