Samurai Jack & The Powerpuff Girls' Connection Confirmed?

Buttercup wearing Blossom's bow in the Powerpuff Girls

Fans have long speculated that the Powerpuff Girls must have some relationship with Samurai Jack. In addition to the billboard seen in Jack’s show, fans have theorized that the mysterious Chemical X that gave the girls their powers is connected to Aku or that Professor Utonium is a potential variant for Samurai Jack. While the jury is still out on those particular connections, one thing that can be gleaned from this issue is that Jack may actually be on a variant of the Powerpuff Girls' Earth.

It makes a lot of sense that Jack’s world is an alternate version of Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup’s. The Powerpuff Girls’ world is one filled with monsters and superpowered villains, much like Jack’s. Discovering that the two worlds are potentially variants of one another puts the ruined billboard from Samurai Jack in a much darker light. Could it be that Jack's world had no Powerpuff Girls and Townsville fell under Aku's rule as a result? Or perhaps that Aku even killed Jack's versions of the trio?

Whatever the case, seeing the Powerpuff Girls and Samurai Jack have an official connection raises dark questions about the history of both universes.
