Along with two new smartphones and smartwatches, Samsung has also now announced the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro as its latest and best earbuds. Samsung is one of the many tech companies that has been increasingly investing in audio devices, with the Galaxy Buds a mainstream option for those looking for a true wireless solution.

There are a variety of different Galaxy Buds for consumers to choose from. Not only can buyers opt for the standard Galaxy Buds model, but they can go with the Galaxy Buds Live version instead. For those that want the most premium experience, there’s the Galaxy Buds Pro. It is this model that has now been refreshed for 2022.

The new Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are designed to be more compact than the previous version, resulting in a 15 percent smaller body overall. Not only are they more compact, but they are also designed to handle airflow better to improve comfort when working for longer periods of time. However, these upgrades have resulted in a slight price increase with the new Galaxy Buds 2 Pro set to go on sale at $229.99 from August 26th. In the meantime, pre-orders are now open through the Samsung store and other retailers.

Enhanced 360 Audio And A New Color

In addition to being more compact, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro also comes with what Samsung refers to as ‘enhanced 360 audio.’ The previous Pro earbuds already offered 360 audio, but the newer version looks to improve on the spatial audio experience with multi-channel support. There’s also a new color option, too. While the original Galaxy Buds Pro became available in Phantom Violet, Phantom Black, and Phantom Silver, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro can be purchased in the company’s new Bora Purple which first became available in July with the Galaxy S22. For those less interested in Samsung’s ‘purple, purple’ color, the Galaxy Buds Pro are also available in White and Graphite color options as well.

Another notable improvement is in battery life. While there doesn’t appear to be much change at the earbud level, with support for up to 5 hours with ANC on and 8 hours with ANC off, the case has seen a capacity upgrade and is now capable of offering up to 20 hours with ANC on and 30 hours with ANC off. Otherwise, most of the rest of the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro specs and features are the same as the original model. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, considering the original mode already came with plenty of selling points including active noise cancelation, good sound quality, gesture support, and the same IPX7 water and sweat resistance rating.
