Samsung is looking to bring some of the camera features from its Galaxy S22-series smartphones to its older devices. At its latest Galaxy Unpacked event last month, Samsung announced the Galaxy S22-series smartphones along with the Galaxy Tab S8-series tablets. The Galaxy S22 lineup has many new functionalities as part of One UI 4.1, including many cool new camera features.

One of the most notable camera features of the Galaxy S22-series is the Expert Raw camera app that allows users to manually tweak various camera-related settings on their phone, including ISO, shutter speed, white balance, focus and more. The app also extends the dynamic range for photographs and offers integrations with Adobe Lightroom to help users edit RAW images.

An official post on Samsung's Korean community forums has revealed that the company will bring some camera features from its Galaxy S22-series devices to older smartphones as part of the One UI 4.1 update. The features include Night Portrait mode, Pet Recognition, the ability to change the lighting position, telephoto lens support for portrait video, more diversified Director's View, telephoto support for Pro and Pro Video modes, the Expert RAW app, and improved Snapchat support, including Night Mode. The devices that will be getting the new features include most of Samsung's premium smartphones from the past couple of years, including the Galaxy S21 series, Z Fold3, Z Flip 3, S20 series, Note 20 series, Z Fold 2, Z Flip 5G, S21 FE and S20 FE.

It is worth noting that not all of the phones mentioned above will get all the above features. The post on the Samsung forum has explained each of the features and provided the complete list of devices that will get those functions. Going by the posts, the Galaxy S21-series devices and the Z Fold 3 will get many of the features, while the S20 FE and S21 FE will only get a handful. Samsung is seemingly leaving out all phones from 2019 and earlier from the update list, which means the Galaxy S10-series, the Galaxy Note 10-series, and older devices will not get the update.

The Samsung community moderator who posted about the new features also claimed that the ONE UI 4.1 update for the Galaxy S21-series is rolling out this week in South Korea, which means users worldwide might not have to wait that long for the update either. In addition, older models should also get the update in due time, the moderator said, although there doesn't seem to be an exact timeline for that just yet.
