Samsung has officially confirmed the date of its next Unpacked this August — the event where it's expected to announce the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. Samsung holds multiple Unpacked events throughout the year to unveil its latest hardware offerings. From smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, and a whole lot more, Samsung Unpacked is always one of the most exciting tech events of the year.

For this latest Unpacked, it's strongly believed Samsung will announce its two latest foldable smartphones. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is rumored to have a sleeker design than the Z Fold 2, an under-display selfie camera, and support for the S Pen — something Samsung fans have been asking for ever since the original Galaxy Fold was released. The Z Flip 3 will also come with ample upgrades, including a larger cover display, more color options, and another under-display selfie camera.

Following months and months of leaks regarding the two phones, there isn't too much longer to wait before they're made official. Per an invitation Samsung just sent out, the next Samsung Unpacked takes place on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. It'll be an all-virtual event that anyone can watch on Samsung.com, similar to how the last few Unpackeds have gone. Although the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 aren't called out by name in the invitation, it all but confirms they'll be present. In addition to the "Get ready to unfold" text, the two shapes represent the two folding phones — including a half-opened Z Fold 3 and a closed Z Flip 3.

Other Announcements To Expect From Samsung Unpacked

Leaked render of Samsung Galaxy Buds 2

While the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 will be the stars of Samsung Unpacked, they aren't the only Galaxy devices expected to be there. Also present should be the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. It's rumored to be available in two styles (Classic and Active), should come in multiple colors/sizes, and be the first Samsung wearable with One UI Watch — a new smartwatch interface based on the overhauled Wear OS platform Samsung's co-developing with Google. Samsung's already confirmed a new device with One UI Watch is coming soon, so there's a very good chance of the Galaxy Watch 4 making an appearance.

Additionally, Samsung will likely use this Unpacked to announce the Galaxy Buds 2. These have also leaked substantially over the past few months, and they're expected to be a cheaper alternative to the current Galaxy Buds Pro. Rumored features include a gorgeous two-tone design, multiple colors, and 'active noise reduction' in place of full active noise cancellation. While there are already plenty of wireless earbud options in 2021, the Buds 2 should still be an interesting addition to the Galaxy Bud family. There are also rumors that the Galaxy S21 FE could make an appearance, acting as a cheaper alternative to the Galaxy S21 flagship smartphone.

Leading up to Samsung Unpacked on August 11, eager shoppers will be able to reserve Samsung's "next flagship" ahead of time. Making a reservation is completely free. If someone uses that reservation to place a pre-order once Unpacked is finished, they'll receive up to an extra $100 in trade-in credits, 12 free months of Samsung Care+ warranty service, and a “special pre-order offer.” Considering the Z Fold 3 will likely sell for around $2,000, anything to help lessen its sting is greatly appreciated.
