Samsung TV Plus has expanded to even more countries and might just be worth checking out for anyone living in any of the supported locations. Through the streaming service, users can watch a wide range of content absolutely free of charge. From news to kids-friendly content, Samsung’s ever-expanding range of channels means there’s likely to be something for everyone.

Launched in 2015, Samsung TV Plus has come a long way since its inception. The service was originally only available as an app on Samsung’s line of smart TVs and came automatically installed. However, the service was expanded earlier this year to include support for the majority of the company's later-generation mobile devices. As a result, Samsung TV Plus can now be accessed on even more devices than ever before, and whether at home or on the go.

Samsung TV Plus has now expanded even further, with 742 channels now available across twelve countries. News channels such as CBSN and ABC News Live are available subscription-free, and entertainment options include increasingly familiar choices, such as AMC Presents, fuse XL, Docurama, Law & Crime, Game Show Central, and the Paramount Movie Channel, among many others. In addition to live TV, Samsung TV Plus also offers users access to on-demand shows and movies, and 4K content — all without a subscription, fees, or even a credit card on file. Samsung has cited the pandemic as a primary reason to expand its offering and assures consumers that if they haven’t found something on Samsung TV Plus yet, it won’t be long before they do. Following the latest expansion, Samsung TV Plus is now available in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, South Korea, the UK, and the U.S.

Samsung TV Plus: Getting Started

Samsung TV app on phones

For users interested in giving Samsung TV Plus a shot, there are now a number of ways. If they wish to watch on their TV, all Samsung TVs from 2016 already come with the app pre-installed. As a result, there is no downloading or signing up necessary. Users can sign in with their Samsung account to access additional features, but that's optional. To start watching on a smart TV, simply navigate to the Samsung TV Plus app using the app bar located at the bottom of the TV screen. With the addition of mobile support, many Samsung smartphone users can also stream live and on-demand content. As part of previous service expansions, the Samsung TV Plus app can already be downloaded from the Google Play Store or the Galaxy Store on a number of recent Galaxy Note, Galaxy S, Galaxy Z Fold, and Galaxy A series smartphones.

Boasting partnerships with around 300 of the world’s leading broadcast networks, Samsung TV Plus has become a viable streaming service option. While the content might not compare with a paid service, such as Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, it can be compared to many of the free video apps. Like Pluto TV, Samsung TV Plus can be a useful alternative to a paid subscription service, or used to complement existing subscriptions by gaining access to even more channels and on-demand content.
