The specifications of Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4 have seemingly been leaked ahead of its expected release later this year. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 will be an upgrade to the Z Fold 3, which was launched last year and is part of Samsung's Galaxy Fold lineup that debuted back in 2019. While the original Galaxy Fold suffered from multiple reliability issues related to its folding screen, Samsung has since fixed most of those problems, making the current Galaxy Z Fold 3 one of the best folding smartphones money can buy.

A slew of rumors over the past several weeks has revealed quite a bit already about the upcoming device. According to a report from last month, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will not come with a built-in S Pen stylus. The news came from the tipster Ice Universe, who claimed that Samsung is skipping the feature because it wants to make the new device smaller than its predecessor. Another recent rumor also suggested that it might ship with an almost-square main display instead of the 5:4 aspect ratio found on the Fold 3.

A recent tweet from tipster Yogesh Brar has seemingly revealed most of the critical tech specs of Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4. According to Brar, the device will have a 7.6-inch QXGA+ 120Hz folding AMOLED display on the inside and a 6.2-inch HD+ 120Hz AMOLED cover display on the outside. It is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, with a choice of either 12 or 16GB of RAM and 256 or 512GB of internal storage. The phone is also said to ship with a triple-camera setup led by a 50-megapixel primary sensor, alongside a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with up to 3x optical zoom. The inner camera will reportedly be a 16-megapixel under-display unit.

As for the other tech specs, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is also expected to ship with a 4,400mAh battery with 25W fast charging. In terms of software, it is said to run Android 12 out-of-the-box with Samsung's proprietary One UI on top. If Samsung decides to retain some of the best features of the Z Fold 3, the upcoming device should also come with an IPX8 rating, S Pen compatibility, Wireless DeX, and support for Samsung Pay. It should also have some of the standard connectivity options, including 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and a USB Type-C port.

If the rumored specs turn out to be accurate, the Z Fold 4 will be an incremental upgrade over its predecessor. The rumors suggest that the display configurations will remain similar to the Z Fold 3, while the battery capacity and charging speed will also remain identical. However, the processor will see an upgrade, as will the primary image sensor (from 12-megapixel to 50-megapixel), while the Android version will also see an update from Android 11 to Android 12. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is unlikely to break any new grounds but will hopefully have better durability and a sturdier build than its predecessor.
