The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is all but confirmed to launch this summer, and leading up to its inevitable release, new product renders have fully revealed its design. This leak showcases a smartphone that looks fairly similar to that of the Z Fold 2, but a few subtle design tweaks should make the Z Fold 3 more refined all around.

It's safe to say that last year's Galaxy Z Fold 2 was one of the most impressive gadgets of 2020. It improved upon the original Galaxy Fold in almost every way, offering enhanced durability, making the cover display larger, adding a 120Hz refresh rate to the inner screen, and so on. All these months later, it continues to be an Android phone unlike any other. The Z Fold 3 is expected to keep much of what allowed the Z Fold 2 to work so well, albeit with a few smart changes that should be very welcome.

Looking through the renders provided by 91Mobiles, there's a lot to take in. For starters, the 6.23-inch inner screen now features an under-display selfie camera. This is something that's been rumored for both the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, and it effectively allows Samsung to implement a camera sensor without a notch or hole-punch cutout. There's some concern that the under-display nature could result in worse-looking images, but the benefit of having a completely uninterrupted display is extremely exciting.

How The Z Fold 3 Design Is Different Compared To Z Fold 2

Where the design really gets interesting compared to the Z Fold 2 is with the backside.  The rectangular camera bump has been replaced with a much slimmer and rounder one, not unlike what's expected on the Z Flip 3. The entire footprint of the Z Fold 3 also appears to be more rounded compared to the boxy nature of the Z Fold 2. It looks quite good in these renders, and it could also result in a more comfortable-feeling device. There are still three camera sensors and an LED flash, and 91Mobiles reports Samsung will offer the phone in three colors — black, navy green, and a gradient pink. All three colors will also feature a matte finish, which will hopefully keep fingerprints and smudges to a minimum.

Although the Z Fold 3 doesn't appear quite as game-changing as the Z Fold 2, the design that is being shown off still looks fantastic. It's keeping what worked about last year's model, refining its rough edges, and the result is a folding smartphone that could very well appeal to the mainstream. There's still the issue of price for Samsung to address, but at least when it comes to design, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 might be Samsung's best yet.
