In what can be termed a surprise, Samsung has announced that it will hold an event next week. The Galaxy Unpacked Part 2 is scheduled for October 20, a day after Google's Pixel Fall event. Samsung had previously held a Galaxy Unpacked event in August for the launch of new products.

Samsung has had quite an interesting year with multiple launch events beginning with the Galaxy S22 Galaxy Unpacked event in January and another one in April for the new Galaxy Book computers. Its most recent one which was the third this year was held in August, and that brought along the Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Flip3, Galaxy Buds2, and Galaxy Watch4.

With a surprise Galaxy Unpacked announcement set for October 20, Samsung also joins several other manufacturers that have scheduled announcements for October. The event will happen just a few days after Apple's own launch.  There are guesses flying around as to what Samsung will announce but a teaser video uploaded on its website points towards the launch being software-related. The Galaxy Unpacked Part 2 event will begin at 10 A.M. Eastern Time and it will be live-streamed on the Samsung YouTube channel.

What will Samsung announce at the event?

Samsung Galaxy S22 Leaks Onleaks

If the teaser didn't already give it away, the announcement appears to be related to the software experience on Galaxy smartphones and tablets. There is a possibility that Samsung will unveil the new version of its Android OS fork which should launch as One UI 4 on that day. The new skin is expected to bring visual changes, new features, and should be based on Android 12. Samsung is already testing a beta version on select devices but is yet to do a proper unveiling. Details about what is new, what devices will receive the update, and when to expect it should be revealed at the launch.

A surprise announcement at the event will be the launch of the Galaxy S21 FE, an affordable version of the Galaxy S21 series and a successor to last year's hit, the Galaxy S20 FE. The device was initially rumored to be canceled and is now reported to be scheduled for launch early next year. The phone will have a similar design to the Galaxy S21 but will have tradeoffs that keep the price low. It remains to be seen if these guesses are correct.
