Samsung is rolling out an update to the Galaxy S22 series with some much-needed camera improvements. Samsung is the market leader when it comes to Android software updates – not only does it offer more OS upgrades than any Android phone manufacturer, but it also offers security updates for much longer. In addition, it periodically updates its phones, particularly flagships, with new features.

Samsung is also known to roll out software features available on its new flagships to its older models. For example, a recent update brought eSIM support to the Galaxy Fold 3 and Flip 3. At the moment, Samsung is already working on releasing Android 13 for its phones. The update will also bring a new version of its One UI Android skin.

In addition, the built-in QR scanner will now have a larger guide size and an increased scanning speed. Samsung also says that it is now possible to rescan a QR code in the camera app after canceling the result. So instead of relaunching the app to rescan the QR code, users can simply focus on the QR code and the camera will scan it again. The camera update will also bring improvements such as optimized memory and AI enhancements to the photo, night, and video modes.

It has also been revealed that picture quality (HDR and color) have been optimized in photo mode. Users should also notice an improvement in VDIS performance and image quality when recording videos. Furthermore, color and brightness have been improved in Night Mode. Samsung is also planning to improve ultra-low light photography, but this will be released in a future update. Additionally, Samsung revealed that the Galaxy S21 series will also get some of these camera features along with a fix for shutter lag and overheating.

In addition, the Expert RAW app will be compatible with the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and the Galaxy S20 Ultra by mid-September. Samsung hasn't announced when it will roll out the new camera update to Galaxy S22 users. However, according to tipster Ice Universe, the new camera features are already available in One UI Beta 5. He also confirms that HDR and color issues have been fixed on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, with camera samples to back up the claim.
