Thanks to the Samsung and Microsoft partnership, users can easily link their Galaxy phone to their Windows 10 device. Doing this can result in seamless multitasking, such as answering texts, transferring photos, and even using mobile apps on a PC or laptop. Connecting the two devices is an easy process that will only require a simple setup and a press of a button, with no additional cables required.

In August of 2019, Samsung announced a massive partnership with Microsoft that would allow Galaxy users to connect their phones to Windows devices. Users could now check their text messages, notification, phone calls, and even photos from their phone on their Windows computers. During the 2020 Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung revealed a new update that allows users to access their mobile apps on their Windows computers, making multitasking on a computer even easier. This partnership was likely created to help compete against Apple's ecosystem that similarly allows iPhone users to connect to Mac computers.

Being able to connect a phone to a PC is something that many Windows 10 users have wanted. Having this link makes it much easier to multitask while working on a computer or tablet. Once linked, Windows users can quickly reply to text messages and take calls without even touching their phones. With the new updates, the user can also easily access mobile apps like Instagram or UberEats from their computer. This will make it much simpler for users to focus on tasks without having to swap back and forth constantly between devices.

Linking Galaxy & Windows Devices

In order to link a Galaxy phone to a Windows device, users will need to make sure two things are in order and the first is that their Windows device is fully updated. To check for updates, go to the Windows device setting menu and then to Updates and Security. From there, click "Check for updates" and if will notify the user if there are any available updates to install. The second is that in order to link the two devices, the user needs to have a Microsoft account, although that's unlikely to be an issue if they are already using a Windows 10 device.

Once everything is updated and a Microsoft account is ready for use, it is time to link the two devices. To do this, access the 'Quick Panel' on the Galaxy Phone and click the "Link to Windows" icon. New Galaxy devices should already have the feature built-in, but for those that don't, the app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. After clicking the Link to Windows icon, sign in with the Microsoft account and grant the requested permissions. Following which, open the "Your Phone" app on the Windows device and this should automatically attempt to connect to the Galaxy device. When connected, another permissions request will need to be approved before the two devices are linked.

Typically the 'Link to Windows' app will only work when both the Galaxy and Windows app are connected to the same network. Furthermore, most of these features available through this form of linking are exclusive to Samsung Galaxy devices. For example, while some features, such as accessing text messages and photos might be available on other Android devices, access to mobile apps is only accessible through Samsung's own devices.
