A Chinese certification site might have spoiled the Samsung Galaxy A53 ahead of the official launch. The smartphone's unofficial renders first appeared in Nov. 2021. Another leak suggested that Samsung would manufacture the smartphone in four colors, including light blue, black, white and orange. After that, the smartphone also appeared in a Geekbench benchmarking test, which revealed more information about the performance and specifications.

In Dec. 2021, a Dutch tech blog suggested that the South Korean company would manufacture two different models of the Galaxy A53, with Snapdragon and Exynos chipsets, to deal with global supply issues. The blog also revealed two models numbers for the Samsung Galaxy A53. It was also speculated that the Exynos-powered Galaxy A53 would be launched in the European market, and the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy A53 will be available in the Middle East and Asian market.

According to a listing on the Chinese certification agency TENAA, the Samsung Galaxy A53 has a 6.46-inch screen with 1080 x 2400 resolution. It is most likely to be an AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the smartphone seems to have an octa-core processor with 2.4 GHz as the maximum frequency combined with 8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of storage. While the TENAA listing does not mention the processor's name, the Samsung Galaxy A53 appeared on Geekbench, as mentioned above, with the Exynos 1200 SoC. It has two high-performance cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and six basic cores clocked at 2.00 GHz. Overall, the new Exynos processor is slightly better than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G.

The smartphone might come with One UI 4.0 out of the box as Samsung has already rolled out the latest operating system based on Android 12 for Galaxy A52 5G Galaxy A42 5G. The TENAA listing also revealed that the Samsung Galaxy A53 would feature a total of five cameras, including a 64MP primary lens, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and two 5MP lenses for depth sensing and macro photography. Further, the smartphone will have a 32MP selfie shooter located in a central punch hole. This camera configuration is the same as the Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G and the Galaxy A52. However, whether the primary camera will feature OIS for videos is unknown. Other key features include a 4,860 mAh battery, microSD card support up to 1TB, and an under-display fingerprint reader.

As mentioned in the listing, the model number of the smartphone is SM-A5360. In dimensions, the Galaxy A53 will be a tad smaller than Galaxy A52s 5G. Going by the available information, it would be safe to say that Samsung might consider manufacturing multiple smartphone models. However, featuring a less powerful Exynos 1200 SoC on the Samsung Galaxy A53 (than the Galaxy A52s 5G) would not make much sense. Nevertheless, more information about the Samsung smartphone shall be available with its debut, which is rumored for Q1 2022.
