At the Galaxy A launch event held on March 17, 2022, Samsung announced the Galaxy A53 5G and the Galaxy A33 5G. These smartphones are made for customers looking for affordable but capable devices. While the previous generation of these smartphones had quite a few differences, Samsung has made efforts to provide a consistent experience on both these devices, both in terms of performance and in-hand feel.

The Samsung Galaxy A series is one of the company's most popular and best-selling lineups. In the recent past, Galaxy A52 5G and Galaxy A32 5G have been very successful in several markets worldwide. To recall, the Galaxy A52 5G came with a Snapdragon chipset, and the Galaxy A32 5G had a MediaTek chipset. In addition, both the smartphones had a quad-camera system and ran on One UI 3.1 based on Android 11.

On the other hand, the Galaxy A33 5G has a 48MP primary sensor (with OIS), an 8MP ultrawide, 5MP macro, and 2MP depth-sensing lenses. It is worth mentioning that Samsung has introduced a new feature called the Object Eraser, like the Magic Eraser on Google Pixel 6. Samsung Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A33 5G

Samsung has equipped both the Galaxy A53 5G and the Galaxy A33 5G with its new chipset, the Exynos 1280. This is the most notable change in the latest devices. The Exynos 1280 chipset is built on a 5nm fabrication technology. Along with the chipset, both the Galaxy A53 5G and the Galaxy A33 5G come with the same memory options — up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Users can expand the storage up to 1TB with an external microSD card as well. In addition, both smartphones come with RAM Plus technology that enables users to boost the RAM. Out of the box, both the devices run on the latest One UI 4.1 based on Android 12 and share the same 5,000 mAh battery. While both the Galaxy A53 5G and the Galaxy A33 5G support 25W fast wired charging, neither has a charger in its box.

With these models, Samsung has improved the water and dust resistance rating to IP67 standards, also found on Apple's recently launched iPhone SE 3. Finally, the Galaxy A53 5G is priced at EUR 449 and will be available from April 1, 2022. Whereas the Galaxy A33 5G is priced at EUR 369 and will be available from April 22, 2022. Now for the bad news, only the Galaxy A53 5G will be available to purchase in the United States for $449.99. One thing to keep in mind is that neither of the smartphones has a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Those who purchase the Galaxy A53 5G or the Galaxy A33 5G will get up to four generations of One UI and Android OS updates and up to five years of security updates. This means that Samsung will back these devices for quite a long time, making it the best option for those looking to buy a smartphone that lasts. To sum up, those looking for an affordable smartphone with a large display, decent performance, and 5G connectivity can splurge on the new Galaxy A-series smartphone. If price is the priority, go for the Galaxy A33 5G. On the other hand, if a higher refresh rate display and a better camera system are what one wants, Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is a better option.
