Sam Wilson has had many great moments in the MCU, and it's his words during those moments that make them even more special. From his first appearance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Sam never failed to deliver some great lines.

Even though Sam can provide some comedic relief, he also became very talented at expressing very powerful, important, and even therapeutic words to those around him. Sam and Bucky's friendship had a bit of a rocky start, but Falcon-turned-Captain America's way with words was key in the two heroes getting closer.

"I Never Said 'Pilot'..."

Back when fans first met Sam Wilson in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, during his speech about his wingman Riley, Sam simply says, "We were flying a night mission." Naturally, Steve assumes that Sam is talking about a plane or helicopter.

It is only later when Steve says "I thought you were a pilot." that he realizes that Sam never actually says the word "pilot." This was a great early nod to the fans who knew exactly who Sam Wilson was upon first meeting him.

"Man, Shut The Hell Up."

When Sam goes up to intercept Rumlow in the Triskellion, Rumlow manages to get the upper hand on Sam just long enough to give a big powerful speech about how war only comes with pain.

Just before the two battle it out, instead of coming back with an equally powerful or stoic line, Sam opts for the fitting "Man, shut the hell up."

"So, Are You Like, Black Kid?"

One of the main themes and questions running throughout The Falcon And The Winter Soldier is how would the world react if a Black man took up the shield? Isaiah Bradley served as a very important symbol of the differences between how a Black man and a white man are both treated as super soldiers.

When Falcon meets the kid in Isaiah's neighborhood, the first thing he says is, "It's Black Falcon!", to which Sam replies, "It's just Falcon, kid."

"Moon Stuff."

Joaquin Torres in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

One of the running jokes of TFATWS is that Steve Rogers is rumored to be on the moon. Marvel was very coy about Steve's whereabouts and didn't even tell the showrunners of the show where Steve really is. When speculating where Steve is, Sam and Bucky always use the word "gone," not dead.

Just as Sam leaves to return the shield to the government, Torres asks Sam what he's got to do. Sam replies, "Moon stuff."

"On Your Left."

Sam's iconic quote marks not just his and Steve's first meeting way back in 2014 but also his return after being dusted. This back-and-forth was a great nod and was not overused, but appearing at just the right moments, not to mention providing some great meme material.

Steve initially said it to Sam at the beginning of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and also said it in the hospital at the end. Sam manages to get his own back in Avengers: Endgame, in one of the best MCU Falcon moments.

"It's In Every Action Movie!"

At the beginning of TFATWS, it was safe to say that Sam and Bucky's relationship was on rocky footing. This wasn't helped by Sam giving away Steve's shield or Bucky releasing Zemo from prison.

When they meet up with Sharon and are attacked by a gang in Madripoor, Sam and Bucky disagree over what way they are going, and when they are arguing, Sam's defense is that it's in every action movie.

"You Want To Climb Out Of The Hell You’re In, Do The Work."

By the penultimate TFATWS episode, Bucky and Sam's friendship has massively evolved to the point where Bucky really listens to what Sam is saying. Aside from his therapist, Sam is one of the few people whom Bucky will listen to.

Sam points out that all the work Bucky has been doing to clear his conscience is more "avenging" the names on his list rather than making amends. He urges Bucky to give someone closure. In this case, Bucky goes to Yuri to tells him what really happened to his son.

"Every time something gets better for one group, it gets worse for another."

Falcon and Winter Soldier Torres

In the first episode of TFATWS, while Sam and Torres are talking after Sam's pursuit of Batroc, Torres makes Sam aware of the Flagsmashers, the group of individuals who were displaced by the Blip when four billion people were brought back into existence.

Sam's quote alludes to the fact that it was great that billions of people were brought back to life, but the world had had five years without those people and had changed in so many ways. Those who were still around had built new lives during those five years.

"Can You Accept That I Did What I Thought Was Right?"

In the first episode of TFATWS, Sam struggles to take on Steve's shield and decides to give it back to the government, not knowing that they were going to give it to John Walker. During Bucky and Sam's therapy session, Bucky voices his anger at Sam for giving up the shield to which Sam replies that he just did what he thought was right.

Sam also points out that it's something that Bucky or Steve would never understand. They might have an idea of what it's like for a Black man to be handed the shield, but they will never truly know, the same that Sam will never truly know what it's like to be a brainwashed super-soldier.

"What Would Be The Point Of All The Pain And Sacrifice If I Wasn't Willing To Stand Up And Keep Fighting?"

Bucky Sam and Sarah on the boat in Falcon and Winter Soldier

Towards the end of the series, Sam begins to come to terms with taking up the shield and as he is talking to his sister Sarah he says "What would be the point of all the pain and sacrifice if I wasn't willing to stand up and keep fighting?"

Isaiah Bradley told Sam that no self-respecting Black man would ever want to be Captain America after the way he was treated during the war, but the above quote, as well as Sam's speech in the final episode, pretty much says everything fans need to know about Sam's decision. Fans cannot wait to see how things turn out for Sam going forward.
