Falcon and the Winter Soldier star, Anthony Mackie, has just confirmed that the wings on the new Captain America suit that the Wakandans made for him are, in fact, made of vibranium, the toughest substance on the planet. During the series, the first season of which just concluded on Disney+ last week, Wilson struggles as he grapples with the legacy of Captain America, a mantle he initially spurned after Steve Rogers faded into the background.

By the end of season one, Sam has accepted the role and the shield, and, after he had his Falcon wings ripped off in battle, he's been gifted a Captain America suit from the Wakandans. The new suit features a variation of the star spangled banner imagery that Captain Rogers wore, sans the blue. It also comes with some new wings, which are made of some very dense material.

During a recent appearance on The Late Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Mackie confirms that his new wings are made of vibranium, a metal that helps make Wakanda the most technologically advanced country in the nation. After Colbert asks him about whether the wings are made of vibranium, Mackie replies, “100 percent, the best Vibranium CGI can buy." Check out the interview below:

The vibranium wings give Wilson protection on two fronts. For one, because vibranium is the toughest substance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it's extremely unlikely that anyone will be able to damage them like they did his last pair. Additionally, he can use the wings as a shield for both himself and someone he'd protect, as he does in the final episode of season one. When you combine that with the vibranium Captain America shield he inherited from Steve Rogers, he emerges from the first season of Falcon and the Winter Soldier a good deal more formidable than he was in the Avengers movies.

It's a good thing Falcon got the new wings, because he could soon be involved with another big adventure. Following the conclusion of Falcon and The Winter Soldier season one, it was reported a new Captain America movie starring Mackie was in the works. When asked about the report, Mackie said that he hadn't heard of anything about the project up to that point. Still, based on the positive reception to Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and the way the MCU operates, it wouldn't be surprising to see Captain America 4 get confirmed in the near future.
